After the Rain…

A few days ago mother nature gifted us with beautiful rain! We have very cold, dry winters here in Gauteng (Johannesburg) not a drop of rain for a few months. Somehow, our weather seems to be evolving and resulted in a small cloud burst. We woke up to thunder in the distance, I just adore lying in bed, listening to a storm. It rained solidly for a few hours and then stopped. I ran outside, camera in hand, to explore the beautiful fresh looking world, washed clean before my eyes…

We had a busy but lovely weekend spent with friends and family eating warm soup and homemade bread.

Knitting and a Walk in the Garden

Our Pickles the Cat test knit is moving along nicely and his pattern will be available soon, I’ve cast on an algae green pickles and have joined in the test knit myself. It’s a lot of fun, if you’d like to pop in onto the thread and say hi and chat go here.

My mom-in-law grew this Perennial Basil for me from a slip, I swear she has green-fingers… It’s the most divine plant, attracting bees and insects for many months of the year.

I have started growing wheatgrass for wheatgrass shots, sssh don’t tell the kids, they are really not keen on drinking it, I think I’ll juice some apple to take the edge off the taste.

This squash vine self-seeded and is doing very well in my window box outside my kitchen window, in winter, I might add, what a determined little plant.
