October Already?!

Hello! Can you believe it’s October already? The year has flown by… one day seems to flow into the next and before we know it, it’ll be Christmas!

So much has been happening since I last wrote here, our children are growing up into young adults, Jen is 21 now, Erin 19, Caid 17 and our little one Kye is 12 🙂 I miss those days when they were all still so small and we’d pile into the car and go on adventures together.

They have grown into the most amazing people and we still have adventures, sometimes. I really do try to be present each day to appreciate this time I have with them. I remember, not long ago, a mom was writing about her child going off to university and how we should appreciate and ‘be’ in the moment with our children, as time is fleeting and just races by, often without us noticing.

Here we are, my girls have gone off to university already but they still live at home as their uni is close, so I’m grateful for that.

Well, as October marches on, some news from my side of the world:

Rich and I have been riding again. I really need to do this more often!

Bailey and Sandy are such wonderful pets. Bailey keeps Sandy young at heart and seems to also have kept Sandy’s epilepsy at bay for now. She’s much more active with Bailey around and I think this helps.

Last month was my birthday month, Rich was overseas and sent me this lovely bouquet of flowers 🙂

My little shadow, Delilah, she loves following me when I go to feed the chickens.

We also had a magnificent eclipse recently. It was freezing outside but so worth it!

Caid and Kye painted Proteas aren’t they gorgeous?

We still have our beautiful feathered girls and they gift us with the best eggs, daily ♥

Christmas Ornament Swap:

Is anyone interested in participating in a Christmas Ornament Swap?

Susan wrote to me to ask if there would be one this year.

If you are keen, please post in the comments and I will write a post about it if we have enough people 🙂

Enjoy the rest of your week ♥

Saturday 24/02

Hello!! How can it be February already?? Life has become extremely busy, both of our girls are studying at Chiropractic at university and the boys are getting older too! Caid is in his second last year of high school and Kye will be starting high school in a couple of years.

Here’s some news from our side of the world 🙂

Delilah drinking water just outside the front door, this is one of her favourite spots to quench her thirst.

Hard to believe this boy is now 12 years old! He’s enjoying learning about animation on Blender and has even started his own YouTube channel!

This is the cake he wanted, Overwatch, it’s a computer game that he enjoys playing. An amazing confectionary chef called Tiffany made it for us, she is SO talented!!

Erin made a wonderful discovery in our Bamboo bush yesterday, a Rainspider nest! The Rainspider mom is sitting on top of the nest in the photo, she is huge! The nest is literally the same size as it is in the photo. SO exciting!

This is the little zebra I made for someone over in Australia 🙂 He’s on his way there now. I really enjoyed knitting this sweet softie and will have to design a pattern soon. I used pure wool from Nurturing Fibres, a stunning South African yarn dyer and he has been stuffed with Merino fleece, so 100% natural!

Our days are becoming cooler now that we are heading into Autumn here in South Africa, I’m looking forward to the colder months 🙂 What have you been up to lately?

Have a lovely Saturday!

Recent Creativity

Hello there,

It’s such a busy time of year here, my oldest daughter has just passed her second year of Chiropractic! Yay!! I’m so very proud of her 🙂 My second oldest has just passed her drivers test (wow! lovely!) and is busy with her matric finals! So much going on, time is flying and Christmas is almost here. Kye painted this beautiful painting on Friday and has decided that he quite likes to paint now, I love how it turned out, it’s hanging up in the dining room for everyone to see.

I’ve been wanting to knit a fox pattern for the longest time, so here he is, almost done, I just need to knit his tail. He also needs a name, so if you have any suggestions, please post in the comments.

Happy weekend!

🙂

Hello from a cold South Africa

Hello from a very cold South Africa 🙂

The temperature has plummeted over the past week but our lovely indigenous Aloes are flowering and attracting may birds and insects to our garden. I love them, they are gorgeous plants!

A boy and his dog… K loves Bailey to bits! She is such a sweet girl and has given our other Lab Sandy a boost of longevity. They play for hours and then have long naps together only to resume playing again.

Our beautiful Orchid is flowering again, this plant was given to me as a gift the day Jen was born almost 20 years ago. It flowers profusely year after year and gives us such joy! When it was given to me it was a single bloom with a few leaves at the base but now it has expanded and takes up an entire container.

I am busy with a new pattern for someone, I’m enjoying the design process tremendously and love seeing the development take shape.

We have had to start lighting fires again, it’s so cozy and warm. We’ve collected plenty of wood from our garden during our pruning season, so that worked out very well and is sustainable too.

Oh and this is Bailey attempting to steal my knitting every opportunity she gets. I love her x
