Creative Friday

Cady Sewing

Quiver

Caiden has been enjoying making bows and arrows, he has been inspired by the character, Legolas Greenleaf from Lord of the Rings.  I have been reading this book to him in the evenings and he loves the story… he has been working on his arrows for a few days, filing them smooth and has become quite a good shot, using old plastic bottles as targets… This morning he made himself a quiver on the sewing machine, Jenna is going to help him attach the strap.

Happy Creative Friday!

PS Richard would like me to knit him a ‘man shawl’ for winter, I love this idea! Any suggestions for a masculine shawl pattern?

All Our “Problems” are small in Comparison…

Working

Kye busy doing his maths school work this morning by the fire. The sweet pencil wrap is from Ziezo Designs, he loves it.

Hair

Jen has been practising different braids on our hair, this one on my hair we found here off of Pinterest.

Erin Plait

She plaited a sideways braid on Erin’s hair, her friend showed her how to do this one.

Sharpie Pens on Ceramics

Sharpie Mug

We also found this clever idea on Pinterest, how to draw on ceramic mugs with Sharpie pens, the mug is baking in the oven now, I’ll let you know how it comes out… I think this is such a lovely idea, the possibilities are endless…

Chicken Soup

I made some of our favourite chicken and ginger soup from Nourishing Traditions for lunch today. Caiden and Kye kept asking for more, I’m so happy the boys are starting to enjoy soups this winter…

Potatoes

Potatoes are sprouting in the kitchen window-box.

Sunny Days Shawlette6

I’ve just blocked my mom’s Sunny Days Shawlette, such a pretty pattern, looks really lovely:)

Going back to the title of this post, a friend has just discovered that her 21 year old son has cancer, he had it when he was 16 and it has returned, situated in his chest this time, a huge tumour… I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like to have to endure this, watching your loved-one suffer… When I think about this young man and what he, as well as his family is going through, whatever I thought was urgent or seemed to be a ‘problem’ in our life, REALLY isn’t at all, we are so fortunate to have our health… I am praying for him and his family, please could you also…
