Today we all set off on a short road trip to Midrand to visit Lory Park. It’s always such a treat to visit there. The animals are well cared for and have beautiful living conditions.  It’s also a wonderful learning experience for the whole family, the rangers actually allow visitors to go into certain cages and have a close-up experience with many of the animals. The little colourful bird in the above photo was so friendly, he flew around, sang to us and followed us as far as he could when we walked by his aviary. I highly reccomend a visit there if you are nearby.

Tomorrow is Creative Friday, I am busy knitting on my Forest Glade cowl, so I will hopefully have a few photos to share with you:)

What a special few days we have shared with family and close friends. I love this time of year, a time of coming together, just being and enjoying one another’s company. We had a lovely Christmas Eve dinner and a wonderful Christmas. Richard’s cousin and his family have travelled down from Zimbabwe to visit for a few weeks, we haven’t seen them for years,  it was amazing to see them again on Christmas day.

A few days ago, we went on a short day trip to the beautiful Ezemvelo Nature Reserve. There is a lovely river there, our children swam and played for hours, climbing over rocks and exploring. We saw so many animals just a few metres from our car and they just stood and looked at us inquisitively. I had no idea this gorgeous place was so close to our home. I think we will be visiting often. Richard has taken 3 weeks off from work, it’s really wonderful to have this time with him.

Wishing you all a wonderful Solstice tomorrow.
