Today has been an exceptionally hot day, so hot that Sandy and the girls took to the green pool. It really should be sparkling blue but after all the rain we have been having, I’m finding it difficult to keep up with all that needs to be done to keep it that way… Soon though, soon:)
I wanted to share an update about recycling packets onto our fruit trees to keep the birds at bay. It really worked well!! These nectarines are almost ready and we have plenty of fruit! Yay!!
The raspberries are almost ripe, we are going to have a bumper crop this year, can’t wait!!
Our Elderflower tree is full of blossoms, I really want to make elderflower cordial, but I want to add, perhaps a little fresh orange juice to the mix, I found it just a little strong last time I made it, any suggestions?
PS If you haven’t entered the beautiful yarn giveaway yet from Carle’ at Nurturing Fibres go here.
Have a lovely afternoon, I will be feverishly knitting on my friend’s cowl, her birthday is tomorrow and I had to frog just a little of it to add another colourway and then I will be knitting smoothly again, wish me luck!

I am sure the cowl will be beautiful, loved and worn at the first hint of coolness. My little charge on my lap fell head over heels for the little kitty in your sidebar. Once I learn to knit (I’ve got circular needles ordered) I think a kitty for my little Scout might be in order. Is it hard to learn to knit in the round?
Thanks so much Lynda:) You will love knitting, it is so therapeutic and wonderful and relaxing etc… I have a little tutorial here on my blog for knitting in the round: http://www.naturalsuburbia.com/2010/03/knitted-easter-egg-pattern-tutorial.html it is easy to learn once you get used to this technique.
Kind regards
Linda
Just beautiful Linda. Enjoy!
Hi Linda, thank you for showing your gardens and fruit trees. What flowers are those pink & white? I enjoy reading reading your web site every evening. We are going into winter here in Virginia. My granddaughter has knit some of your animals.
How nice to see summer is beginning somewhere in the world,, here it is winter on its way. A few flakes fell yesterday morning and a hard frost hit last night. Keep the pictures coming as the only reason I like winter is that we get to go to a warm climate a few times and I can put something on the stove to simmer or in the crockpot while I knit between loads of laundry.. I have to find a reason for winter since I do not ski, nor skate(except on the driveway on patches of black ice) or like having my face frozen by the hard wind and cold.
What are those beautiful pink and white flowers? My yard would win the ugly yard award. Ful, Full, full of leaves and their are still tons of them on the trees….too early to blow the leaves! No frost yet here in NC…just cool Fall temps.
