We had a wonderful weekend, on Sunday we went to a food market at Uncle Tim’s Cabin, which is just on the outskirts of Benoni, near the small farms. What a lovely centre, they sell antiques, secondhand books etc… Yesterday was a food market and we met our lovely neighbours there and had a grand morning together. We sat at a table under the trees, knitting, chatting and listening to live music… The children played and went exploring…

Did I mention there were secondhand books for sale… Well I of course went straight to the knitting and needlecraft section of books and found some fantastic editions… I found an old Scouting Book too…
These books have such beautiful vintage patterns in them, tonight I am going to sit down and have a really good look.
I also found a beautiful old fairy tale book, I couldn’t resist, it reminded me of ones I had when I was little…
One other thing… I have started to wear skirts again and dresses! I never really wear them, but now, I think I will and I think I rather like them. I have been out to the fabric shop and found the most amazing fabric, it is actually quilting fabric and I am going to make skirts for Jen and Erin. I also intend to make my first quilt… I will post pictures of my progress…

For everyone waiting for the wrist warmer pattern to be posted at Our Holistsc Life, Carle’ will be posting it soon and I will let you all know as soon as it is on her blog 🙂

Beautiful Fabrics you lucky thing.
Oh boy you did find some treasures Linds. I love your fabric. You will have to let me know what you know about quilting.. I have no clue. It would be lovey to make an heirloom for our children. My your dress looks lovely too. Summery indeed.
Have a great week

The fabric you bought is so pretty. I like your dress, too. Looks like you founds some great secondhand books– that fairytale book reminds me of the books I read when I was young, too. Looking forward to seeing your quilt.
It looks like a lovely weekend. The market seems like a fun trip. 🙂 I can’t wait to see your quilting progress!
I love skirts Linda and wear them everyday, even in winter!…The skirt is lovely and what fabric you have!
And that was one big cupcake!
Linda, I have that Fairy Tale book. It was presented to me at Sunday School about a thousand years ago. I have never seen it anywhere else except here on your blog.
What a great weekend! I love finding charming old books like the ones you found.
I love using quilt shop fabrics for skirts and dresses. Beautiful fabrics you chose. Great books too!
Oh Linda! You did find some treasures. I have to tell you, my dad was looking at your blog and about died when he saw the scouting book. He is very involved with Boy Scouts of America, and said that that is the very first book Patten wrote, and worth it’s weight in gold to an avid scouter! What a find!
urrrg, Baden-Powell, not Patten. I’m afraid my brain has been buried under a mound of tissue and drowned in Gypsy Cold Care tea.
