Today we spent the day at the Edenvale Quarry watching the cubs and scouts playing canoe polo, the weather was lovely, full sun and a slight breeze. I managed to get some knitting done, I’m designing a large horse! Erin and Caiden played, Jen has tonsilitis so she went along for support. I only had my phone with me to take photos…

Hope your Sunday is wonderful

Exhaling at the End of the Day

View

This is the view from the couch in our bedroom, I love to sit here in the mornings and just gaze out at the green and various other vibrant colours, soul food. I’ve been enjoying a few moments here this afternoon by myself, whilst drinking a cup of coffee. Today has been a very busy but productive day. We started our morning with school at 8:30, I took Jen to extra science at 10am, then to maths classes at 1pm, collected both Erin and Jen at 3pm, dropped Jen off at her next activity just after 3pm and then took Kye to swimming class right after that! In between a prepared a Hungarian Stew and popped that in the slow cooker for dinner. Mondays are our busiest day by far but we get so much done and it feels great. So by late afternoon, I made coffee, sat on the couch in my bedroom and looked out at the Pride of India that is now in bloom and contemplated today and the week to come…

Today has been a boiling hot day! Richard and I got up early, drove to Modderfontien Bike Park and spent the next two hours riding around a mountain bike loop. At one stage his Garmin was giving temperature readings of 37 degrees Celsius! The ride was great but the hills were a killer, I actually felt like I was going to pass out on one of the steep hills, so I got off my bike and walked up instead. It was a great experience though, Richard was so patient and encouraging, which was wonderful. We rode 16km of hills and winding paths! I can now see why people fall in love with this sport, it’s really fantastic.

We had a lovely light lunch afterwards and then drove home, its been such a relaxing day otherwise and then tonight we had a family braai. Shew, I’m going to sleep well tonight:) Our veg garden is overflowing with produce, I need to get in there and do some weeding someday soon.

PS I’ve also just cast on for a new design for a Panda.

Have a lovely weekend xx

Dont you just love Lego? It’s all over our house, covering tables and the floors of many rooms… but it does spark such creativity doesn’t it? This is Caiden’s creation.

We’ve just finished a seven week school holiday! It was wonderful for our family, we really connected and spent time just ‘being’ together. Richard took two weeks off, he works quite far from home which means he leaves early and comes home late each night, so what a treat to see him for 2 whole weeks! My poor mom has been suffering with Shingles, the pain has been unbearable, she has it on her neck and jaw area and it’s been so difficult for her to eat and even speak. Today, when she visited, she did say that it has improved but I could see that she was still experiencing quite a lot of discomfort. Apparently, the pain can persist for 6-8 weeks before it eases, I really hope she has some relief before then.

Jenna is back from her 10 day scout leadership boot camp, it was tough and she didn’t get much sleep but she really enjoyed her time there, she says she has learned so much from those 10 days which is fantastic! We are very proud of her.

Erin has been practising different braids in her hair, this one above was particularly pretty.

Our sweet Lab Sandy, affectionately known as ‘Baa’ never misses an opportunity to swim with us in the pool. Today was our first day back at school, it was a great day, filled with the goodness of family, cooking and lists of things to do, I didn’t get to all the things on those lists but tomorrow is another day…

Elegant-Cotswold-CowlPS my Cotswold Cowl has been test knitted and the pattern is now available on Ravelry. It’s a really quick knit, wonderful to knit up in an afternoon and gift to a friend.

Hope your day is filled with happiness x
