Today is World Rhino Day, a very important day for us to remember how wonderful these creatures are and the dangers they face with each new day. I thought I would update you on how Thulani’s pattern has been doing. I designed and knitted this Rhino pattern to help raise awareness and funds for the Stop Rhino Poaching organisation. You can read more about it here.
From Thulani’s pattern sales, I will be donating $ 53.00 / R 440.00 to this organisation today. Every little bit helps and I am so grateful that through these sales I will be able to assist these creatures in a small way. Thank you so much to everyone who has bought this pattern specifically with the purpose that part of their payment will be sent to help these lovely animals.
Thulani’s pattern can be purchased from my Etsy, Ravelry and Craftsy stores.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Linda

Thats really wonderful Linda, I love your thulani and have been wanting to knit my own, pattern and wool are ready, just need to find time. I love that your donating to this immensely important cause, if we wish for our children to see rhinos in the wild, on the African continent, we have to act now before their poached into nonexsistence. I wish I had prepared a post for today too! Bless your heart. xxxxx lori
Wow, he’s amazing! I’m always impressed with how well shaped your animals are – he looks perfect! I wasn’t aware that it was World Rhino Day, but I’ll be putting on a documentary for the kids about rhinos, to commemorate the event. Beautiful pattern, as always.
He’s so cute- and realistic! I have been worried about rhino’s and elephants for years, but since I’m a million $$ short of being a millionaire, pretty much all I can do is be vocal in my daily life and on social sites. It’s so sad that human greed and ignorance will be the downfall of many majestic animals! Thank you for designing this cutie, and spreading the word, and raising funds!
I’m off to look at your patterns!
Denise. :)-
Hello again!
I just bought your rhino and elephant patterns (and I’ve got my eye on a couple more!) and thought you might like to know that I happened to receive my October issue of National Geographic magazine today and the cover story is Blood Ivory from elephants. I’m partway thru the article and am totally disgusted!! It is sickening how many (25,000 last year alone!) were killed for their tusks, mostly bought on the black market for religious items, of which the Catholic Church buys alot of. The Vatican has not signed the CITES treaty, which deeply saddens me, as I am Catholic. (I’m sure you already know all these facts, but I am stunned by all of this! I have been “liking” and “following” and sharing for the last hour, spreading the word). Thanks for spreading the word and donating proceeds from your pattern sales to Stop Rhino Poaching. 🙂
Thank you so much Denise, I hope you enjoy knitting them. It is so incredibly sad that these beautiful creatures are hunted down, it truly makes my heart ache…
Well done Linda, that is a very kind, thoughtful gesture. I’ve just purchased the pattern via Ravelry.
Have a great weekend.
Thank you so much Jeanette, I really appreciate your purchase, happy knitting:)
Congrats Linda! Every effort from the heart makes a difference!
Plus, you’ve enlightened all of us!
Cheers!
Your thoughtful generosity brightens my day and encourages like behaviors in those who read and follow your blog. I wish I could knit; I don’t suppose you crochet, Linda ?~! Your patterns work up so very realistic; I have seen them all and this one may be my favorite to date. Have you done an elephant yet? THat may be when I take up knitting.
I love him. And I love that you are supporting the people who would put a dent in poaching. It breaks my heart – both the slaughter of the innocent, and the darkness of the minds of those who have not had a chance to catch up with the education the rest of us take for granted – for those who know so much about some things I don’t understand, but so very little about everything else, and so live with a very short sight.
