My Thoughts on Our Week…

Honey bread rolls made from The Waldorf Book of Soups, such an easy and delicious recipe. (Sadly I can’t eat this as I’m off all grains for 30 days but that’s ok:)

These are sweet potato quiches. I just cooked a couple of sweet potatoes, mashed them, added some grilled bacon bits, herb salt, chopped up red pepper, spring onions, chilli flakes and added a whisked egg and baked them in the oven until they were set, then grilled them a little to make them crispy. Yummy!

We have been immersed entirely in Jenna and Erin’s school exams this week, a flurry of tests, tutors, extra maths and lots of driving around as well. Jen has one more exam to go and then she’s finished! The girls have both worked so hard, we are very proud of them indeed!

I’m on day 19 of my Whole30, when I discovered this eating program over on Tracey’s blog I was very intrigued. I was determined to give it a go and make it work from the beginning, then started craving foods a few days later but I’ve managed to stay away from dairy, sugar, grains, potatoes and legumes and I really do feel great! Just the feedback I have read from others wanting to improve their health and quality of life keeps me on the straight and narrow path. I am also down 8kg, I know I’m not supposed to weigh myself but I just couldn’t resist. It’s exciting, I’ve got so much energy, I’m still walking everyday but now I’ve started running too. Running was something I have never been able to get right, I would start and have to stop almost immediately because my knees were sore etc… Now I can just keep going! I’ve started reading It Starts With Food for a second time and now that I understand how Paleo works a little better, I am really enjoying the read.

It’s my birthday on Saturday and I’m sure I’m driving Richard crazy, he wants to know what I’d like and I’m really not trying to be difficult but I honestly don’t know what I want! Is it a good or a bad thing that there is nothing that I feel I need right now in my life? Anyway, I possibly think I might need some wool?? Do knitters ever feel that they have enough wool?? I haven’t even got a project in mind but I’m sure I still need some right? I think I do, ok that was easy, wool it will be:)

Spring is such a wonderful season, our garden is green and lush and bursting with life…

Wishing you a day filled with goodness…

Happy early birthday wishes sister Virgo! My husband was the same way and I finally got him to understand that I have all that I need. I am planning a trip to VA. in December and I told him he could give me spending money then. I hope you have the best day.

Those rolls sounds so good! I am so happy you are feeling so well and sticking with your eating plan. I am on Day 5 of a 10 Day juice cleanse, it’s tough, but I am feeling so much better. Sneaky you for stepping on the scale, I haven’t yet, but really want too.

Congratulations to Jenna and Erin, all that hard work is paying off. We have just begun school lessons again so I am having to study Chemistry every evening.

Thanks so much dear Tracey! The eating plan is working well, your juice cleanse sounds interesting! Good luck with your schooling, we are finishing up for the 3rd term and will only start again in October.

    Happy early birthday, Linda!

There are days when I wish we could do the Paleo thing. Everyone seems so sold on it. For better or worse we have nut allergies in the house and nuts seem to be a huge part of it (also meat, which we don’t really do very much). I’m super glad that you’re feeling great now, though. (:

      Thanks Melissa!
Hope you are all well, have a lovely weekend:)

So happy that you are feeling wonderful on your new diet. That is so very important.

I have been sick for at least a week now with on and off fever and a UI. Have done a lot of sleeping and also have listened to an audiobook. My neighbors have been so sweet in taking Abby outside periodically, since James has been out of town seeing his brothers in Minnesota, which he does at this time every year. Last week I made a big pot of vegetable soup and have eaten it throughout the days. I think I am on the mend.

Happy, Happy Birthday wishes to you for Saturday! Have a grand day.

    Joanne xoxo

Oh dear Joanne, if we lived closer, I would make and bring you chicken soup. I am so sorry to hear you haven’t been well.
Thanks for my birthday wishes and do take care.

Happy Birthday from a fellow Virgo. I envy you the beautiful flowers in the pictures. My garden has suffered from weeks of very hot and dry wether.

I love the progression of owls! And I wonder whether the final picture is of wood carvings and if they were done by your children. They are very soothing to look at and beg to be touched to feel the smoothness of the curves and sharpness of the angles, much like some of the Inuit sculptures I have.

      Thanks Barbara:)
I hope you have some rain very soon.
Those little carvings were bought at a street market when our family visited Cullinan, my dear Richard bought them for me, I love them.

Happy Birthday! I think it’s good to not want anything. That always happens around my birthday. So I just keep a list of books I like but don’t feel pressed to by right away. You know the it would be nice to have if it were my birthday kind of thing.

I’m glad the diet is going well. Considering one myself!

    • Linda September 13, 2013 at 2:09 pm #

      Thank you KC!
I know, it’s nice to compile a list of things you like and then buy them when you feel the time is right.
Let me know if you do the paleo way of eating, I would love to hear your thoughts.
      🙂

Happy early birthday! Mine is on the 19th! And I agree, wool is always a good choice ………. or a good book and a box of choccies (after your diet!!) or a few days in the Drakensberg hiking…..

    • Linda September 13, 2013 at 2:10 pm #

Thanks Marlene and Happy Birthday to you for the 19th!
      I like your list!
      🙂
