We are enjoying our warm indoor fires, we have been having freezing weather here in Souoth Africa…
12 degrees celsius, need I say more…
The girls are drawing inside, keeping warm…
I am enjoying the roses from our rose garden that continue to give us the most beautiful blooms..
I have grown quite attached to our little flock of chickens who follow me all over the place as if they think I am their mama.
I am thrilled about our growing wood pile that we repurposed from our cypress tree we had to cut down. The tree had started to fall so we had no option but to take it down. We have quite a lot of wood that has dried out for the winter, hooray!!
We are waiting for our naartjies that are almost ready to be picked for the first time…
I am really hoping that this almond tree continues to grow its almond crop, even though it is winter. I was so surprised to see blossoms in autumn, now the blossoms are gone and the nuts have appeared, amazing…
Each day when we go outside and run in the sun, we look up and see this mama dove sitting on her eggs, so beautiful to watch her waiting for her little ones to hatch into this world…
Some book news, I heard from a publisher yesterday and they have agreed to have a look at my knitting book proposal, I have sent it off today and now we wait…
Happy day to you:)

Lots of good stuff in your neck of the woods. Congrats about the book. I can’t wait to hear more about that! While you are freezing…we are roasting. Keep warm.

So when the Lord is showing you around the universe, later on, and he opens the door to Eden, and stands back all aglow at the joy of giving you such a treat, you will have to be very careful not to disappoint him by saying something like, “Oh – but this is our own yard! This is our life!”
It looks like such a cozy and great way to spend the winter! I find it amazing that even in your winter, you still get roses and food crops! I’m in Alberta (Canada) and our winters have been so “white” and cold, that when it reaches 12 Celcius in the spring, we are ready to wear t-shirts outside, lol. Your winter looks just perfect 🙂
Stay warm!
Beautiful photos, look forward to hearing more about your book! How exciting!!
It is beastly hot and humid here and there is no AC in my part of the school…enjoy your coolness.
I’m glad your girls are enjoying a Tomie DePaola book. He is one of my favorite illustrators. It is so interestng that it is cold there, but you have fruit growing and trees blooming…
sorry but had to laugh. 12 degrees celsius here in Canada is a balmy spring day worthy of short sleeves!
I guess it’s all relative!
You chicks look to be about the same age as mine right now! so much fun.
I can relate, it has been very cold in Australia too, we yesterday it did not get over 8C,today I woke to zero! but it is sunny now, I am on the southern coast of Victoria.
I wish I had a big log fire like yours though!
Beautiful! Your fire looks so cozy, its freezing here in australia too. What adorable chicks and how sweet that they follow you around:)
I love your little chickens, too cute! It was 0 degrees here the other morning and frost all over the horse paddock….who said I live in the tropics??? We are 1000mtrs above sea level but even Cairns has been down to 9 in the mornings this week and it is only just June…Brrrr!
