Emerald Isle Cowl

Thanks so much to everyone who has joined my Christmas Ornament Swap, it’s going to be lovey!

I have been working on a cowl pattern for a few days, I just adore this shade of green, a real algae green, too beautiful! This has been such an exciting knit, I have loved watching the pattern elements develop into knitted stitches and the variegated wool is also something I enjoy tremendously, showing its subtle changes in colour and adding a whole new character to the piece once it is finished.

I am knitting this cowl in a DK merino wool from Colourspun on 5mm circular needles and it can be made as long or as thick as you wish by just adding more pattern repeats.  Pattern writing is so much fun and I think I am going to enjoy designing garments as well as knitted toy animals!

PS This is going to be a free pattern as soon as I have finished knitting it:)

and Erin’s chicken Buffy says hi (see the raised foot)
