The theme for this swap is Christmas ornaments, it can be an ornament for a tree or anything with a Christmas theme. You can send off one item or a few and please do contact your swap partner and get to know them. If you’d like to include a few extra items, feel free to do so 🙂

A Little of This and That

Lou

Meet Lou, he’s the most recent member of our family, he is adorable, incredibly mischievous and such a character. I need to make sure I pack away my knitting or I find it wrapped around my diningroom chairs, he really enjoys doing this!!

Frozen

We’ve had FREEZING weather here this week, rain and even a tornado!! We aren’t supposed to have rain in winter here but it rained and hailed too. I’m so ready for Summer but it’s still a few months away.

Lavender

There’s a small window box outside my kitchen window and the lavender seems to flower all year round, it makes my heart happy!

Blocking my shawl

My Arcadian Shawl is finished, such a beautiful pattern! It’s been knitted with with Manos yarn for the main body of the pattern and Karoo Moon handspun yarn for the edging. I’m blocking it at the moment. There’s no knitting project on the go at the moment so I suppose I need a new one, any suggestions for beautiful shawls? It’s so exciting when a pattern unfolds, I love learning new techniques, it’s as if the yarn as well as the knitter are taken on a journey of self-discovery. Don’t you also feel that way when you knit?

Sunset1

I’ve also started walking again recently, we have a beautiful bird sanctuary down the road from where we live and I try to walk around it two or three times a week.

If you pop by here in this space, please say hi, I’d love to hear from you 🙂

Have a lovely weekend!

Some Button Art

Button Art

Button Art1

Caiden and Kye did some button art recently, it turned out really well and they’re very proud of their pieces. Caiden is still busy with the tree. They painted a canvas with acrylic paint, waited for it to dry, drew on their designs and then stuck the buttons on with craft glue.

For more button art ideas, just search button art on Pinterest or look here.

Creative Friday

Cederberg 2014

There was great excitement yesterday when we said goodbye to all the Scouts leaving for the Cederberg Adventure. Our two girls are there and will be gone for 12 days. There is no signal so we won’t have any contact with them, they are going to hike for 10 days with their group, up and down various mountains and work on bases, they will have to navigate with a GPS and carry their own food. It’s such an amazing experience and they’re going to LOVE it!! Many in the group are going back for their third time.

I miss them SO much already and can’t wait for them to come home but this wonderful journey is something they will carry in their hearts for the rest of their lives.

Welcome to Creative Friday,

Please feel free to post your links to anything you have created and would like to share, it can be a recipe, sewing tutorial, knitting tutorial, felting, crochet, crafts, art, spinning, weaving, working with fibre, photography, poetry…etc…

I have added a Creative Friday button on the sidebar of my blog, please feel free to add it to your blog for Creative Friday and link it to http://www.naturalsuburbia.com/ so others can find this space and share their creativity too:)

1. I have started a Creative Friday Flickr Group where you can post your beautiful photos that you link to each Creative Friday. To join the group, please go here.

2. If you would be so kind as to link back to Natural Suburbia in your blog post that would be lovely or pin, share on Facebook and Twitter.
