Hello friends,
This is who I’ve been working on for the past couple of weeks, his name is Pickles the Cat and I’m almost finished making him. He is one of the largest designs I have written and I’m rather enjoying the process. I wasn’t sure about adding arms and legs but after asking on Facebook, everyone suggested ears, eyes, a tail and whiskers, so that is what I’ll do.
I will be opening the test knit up soon on my Ravelry group and there will be 10 spots available. A few knitters have already offered to test knit but there are still a few spots open.
Here are some details:
Pickles is knitted with a 100 gram skein of dk yarn on circular needles in the round. His tail is also knitted in the round with the Magic Loop, oh yes, and he’s loads of fun to knit!
On another note, I have decided to try and get fitter, I’ve been walking every morning with my good friend Sue, we try and walk about 5.5 km per day and it’s going really well. It’s also wonderful because we have time to speak about things that are on our minds and it’s a lovely one hour, just for ourselves before we go home to our families for the day. I think it’s very important to take a little time out of each day for oneself, just a little moment and then I can return to my family refreshed and ready to face the day:)
What special moments do you take out of each day to nurture yourself, I would love to hear about them.

oh! she is going to be just as sweet as can be!
Thank you Kristin! 🙂
HI Linda
I would love to test knit your beautiful cat for you!
Good luck with your walking! I would love to get fit but I find it hard to make the time during the day. I guess I need to prioritise it.
Thanks so much for offering Lise:)
I love this cat. I previously made a tentative offer to test knit and you said it was knit using magic loop technique which I have never learned. If it is possible to knit it with dpns, If so, I am still interested in being a test knitter.
Ah, I love Pickles. I said I would like to be a test knitter, so I am hoping you chose me. I am also a walker/hiker. My husband and sometimes, my daughter goes with us. Like you said, part of the best thing is the chance to talk without distraction.
If you are interested, I’d love to test knit again. Just let me know. I still have a few weeks before our holiday. I am already exited 🙂
Pickles is going to be lovely and snuggly. I’ve started getting up early and going for a run to the lake. I feel like I have so much more energy during the day.
Thanks Emma:) I also have more energy, happy running:)
I would live to test knit pickles as I am recuperating from neck/spine surgery and this would help me pass the time. I also have two Himalayan cars and pickles head shape looks kinda like them! Little flat face with the cutest little nose. They also like playing with the tail on my yarn while knitting!
The Kitty is so cute. It makes me miss my cat that I had for 17 years. His name was Lord Purcy
I would like to be considered to knit for you. I have never knitted on the. Magic loop though can I do it on dbl points
Hi Diane, 17 years is such a wonderfully long time to have a cat. We have 3 and they are all so different and lovely. Our oldest at the moment is Olive, she is just 7. Yes, you could knit the pattern in dpns. I will email you as soon as the thread is open on Ravelry:)
Love your “Pickles” concept……..is it taken from the book? Reading the story of Pickles the Cat was one of my grandkids’ favorites…..his rescue by the firemen; living in the firehouse; and learning to be a helpful cat rather than a troublemaker!
Hi Linda, oh wow, no I haven’t heard of that story, I’d better see if I can find is:) Sounds sweet.
Oh my goodness! We have a cat named Mr. Pickles. Lol
Very nice, Linda. I have been getting so many wonderful compliments on your Glider the whale design. You are a very talented lady. Hugs!
You are so kind Barbara, thank you very much:) x
