We have so many lemons on our lemon trees in our garden, so today we decided to make Lemon Pomanders with them to hang in our cupboards for a lovely citrus fragrance…

This is what we used:
Whole Cloves
Some lemons or oranges
Toothpicks
Pretty string
If you make a tiny hole in your lemon with your toothpick it makes it easier for the cloves go in without hurting little fingers as the cloves can be quite sharp.

Pomanders ready to be hung in cupboards or in the kitchen…
ETSY TREASURY! YAY…
The Magic Onions very kindly placed my Waldorf Maths Gnomes in her Etsy Gnome Treasury, her treasury is lovely, thanks so much Donni! Here is the link:

Warmly Linda

I remember doing this with oranges in elementary school. Those cloves did hurt my fingers! 🙂 I’ll bet your house smells so wonderful right now!
Their smell reminds me of Christmas. We made a whole lot with oranges for our Waldorf School Faire and by the end we had blisters on our fingers from the cloves.
Blessings and magic.
Hi Linds
What a nice cold day activity. Nothing like filling your home with fresh natural fragrance. Well done on the treasury. They look very proud standing there…
Happy cold evening…With all the fires going, I am still cold!

I remember my mom made me one of these probably 35 years ago for Christmas. I loved it. Such a fun project to do with kids, I am sure. I bet your house smells heavenly. 🙂

🙂
Ok, so I’m just a little confused – over here, you just wouldn’t find lemons on trees in winter!! You must have a miraculous season – sitting by the fire and using fresh lemons. Ah. THAT is incredible! I can smell it now.
How creative and fun, Linda! I LOVE the smell of lemons – your house must be glorious 🙂 Congrats on being featured, btw! And LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Roman mosaics. You completely blow me away by your creativity and guidance! You’re children are so lucky to have such a mommy…
Oh, what a lovely project! I love the picture of your girls making the pomanders. Your house must smell so nice!!
I have never heard of this before…I will have to try it this year when the weather gets cooler…Thanks Linda for the inspiration 🙂
What a fun project! We’ve done this with oranges, but not with lemons. Congrats on the treasury on Etsy! Treasuries usually help with sales and exposure. 🙂
Your lemon pomanders sound lovely. I’ve never heard of those, but woud love to make some for my cupboards.
Linda, how I love lemon trees. These are lovely. Will need to try this. They must fill the room with such a fresh, invigorating scent. Love the warm wood burner blazing in the background…looks busy, warm and cosy there!
i remember making pomanders as a girl at Christmastime. i love how my hands would smell of cloves and oranges afterward. 🙂 what a great nature craft.
I made a lemon pomander now, only my lemons are bit greenish, well it’s not smelling yet? is something wrong, it smells if I bring it very close to my nose…
Hi Linda
Here I am sitting in Melbourne, Oz, searching the net for natural made decorations for Christmas and your web page came up.
I’ve just gone through your web and love it. What a great job you are doing. Thanks for sharing the photos of your family too.
I have to decorate a shop window for a friend of mine with natural elements. The shop is in an organic shopping centre so I have my work cut out for me but I’m looking forward to it too.
Thanks for the reminder of ‘home’. I’m going to make some lemon pomanders for the shop window.
Keep up the wonderful work that you are doing.
I used to do this all the time as a lil kid. i loved making patterns with the cloves.
