Gnome Hat Finished!

This morning we woke up and it was raining! Wow, we never really have rain in winter here, so it was a wonderful surprise. Great for the garden and the veggies so I am very grateful. I was awake early because Olive and Charlie our two beautiful, mischevious cats were running up and down the passage, I think the change in weather made them more playful than usual… So I decieded I might as well clean out my small wool cupboard where I keep all my little half used skeins and balls of yarn. I also had to make sure that no moths had moved in and after taking all of my wool out I was realieved to see no moths in sight. My mom has a wonderful remedy for keeping moths away, just cut up small pieces of natural soap cakes and place them all over your yarn / wool cupboard. She has always told me about this and it actually works. I am happy to say my yarn cupboard is clear.

My smallest yarn cupboard, this one is in the study, I have wool cupboards all over the house, don’t you?… LOL … All my natural dyes are kept in a plastic bag to make sure no moths move in and the little gnome guarding my stash was sent to me by a dear Ravely swap partner for a gnome swap, he is adorable.

I have been spinning on my spinning wheel this week and I spun some Alpaca quite thinly because I think I am going to ply it either with some Merino or silk, I haven’t decided yet…

Jen has started a new knitting project, she is knitting one of the bags out of the new Simply Knitting magazine and she has learnt how to knit with a circular needle and she loves it. She is knitting it with the Cement Wash pure Merino yarn that I sell and it is knitting up beautifully… It is such a wonderful pattern with so many variations.

Erin has finished off the last of her form drawings for her Celtic Knots, I have been so impressed with her progress and she has drawn some complicted forms.

I am so excited about Kyes gnome hat, I really enjoyed knitting this, I have knitted it in a one of a kind skein of merino yarn and then on the end I brought in Merino rainbow colours that were in the varigated skeins. He sat still here for 2 seconds so that I could take the photo. This is such a lovely pattern from The Children’s Year, I have been knitting along with Joy, and it has been a fun project, how’s yours going Joy? I can’t wait to see…

I got another snap quickly while he was eating a snack, I just love it…

Have a great weekend everyone 🙂
