Saturday… Outdoor Challenge…

Today has been a lovely day:) We have joined in with the Outdoor Challenge over at 5 Orange Potatoes and I am so thrilled we have:) Today we were all outside so early that the grass was still coated with beautiful dew.  The sunlight was wonderful, streaming through the trees…
We brought our knitting outside with us and sat together and chatted…
Caiden and Kye played all over the garden…
Of course Charlie was with us, he never misses an opportunity to be outdoors, all those leaves moving about in the breeze, he just can’t resist. Nicole, we actually weighed Charlie and he weighs 6 kg 13.2 pounds! I love his yellow eyes…
Jen has discovered Harry Potter books, she has almost read the entire series and absolutely loves them! I am just so relieved she is enjoying her reading:) When Richard returned home from his mountain bike ride this morning, we cooked a brunch and all ate outside together under the shade of our trees. We spoke about the Outdoor Challenge and how important it was to spend as much time outside as possible, we had a wonderful family discussion… We are thrilled to be a part of this!
The view from my lap… I am knitting this hat scarf for Jenna, I bought the pattern last night off of Etsy, it is knitting up so quickly and Erin has started knitting herself one too…

My favourite season is Autumn, and I really love how our Oak tree in our back garden is displaying its array of colours. The air is slightly cooler but the trees already know it is time to drop their leaves… isn’t mother nature amazing?

I have finally finished my swap item for our Share the Love Heart Swap. I really enjoyed this creative process and have met so many wonderful people all over the world through this swap:) If you would still like to join please email me at lindadawkins@mweb.co.za and send me you full name, postal address, email and blog link if you have one:)

We are off to make batter for waffles now, yum! I used this easy recipe…

Thanks to everyone who posted their links for their tutorials on Friendship Friday, your tutorials were wonderful:)

Happy Saturday,
Warmly
Linda

It looks like your kids are enjoying the outdoors for sure. 🙂 I love autumn too. The crisp evenings and changing colors are just amazing. I love being able to experience the opposite season by visiting your blog. Enjoy your autumn! The hat looks great. I can’t wait to see it finished. 🙂

When I look at your yard, I come unstuck in time. Autumn is my favorite, also, but I can’t think about it now. Still waiting for spring to come in. What’s lovely is that I can envision my son in Argentina – and the world the way it is for him, looking at your trees. He will be coming home from dead winter to screaming summer. All in a matter of ten hours or so (how long IS that plane ride?)

You would like our yard. Except that it’s all torn up now, with the building.

I finished my project – and was kind of excited. I’m not sure whether it came out well, or if it’s too bizarre for words. But the best part of this whole thing was meeting anna. What a good girl – strong and brave and interesting. It has been a blessing. And I sent off the box yesterday – kind of thrilling. So the experience turned out to be very, very good in my life. Thank you for setting it up. And for the tutorials. And for the way you live your life. And for sharing that.

We hear only the desperate and unbelievably stupid in the news. We don’t hear about things like the LDS shipping hundreds of tons of supplies to Haiti, or about neighbors taking soup to each other when needed – or about children who are actually learning at their parents’ knees. These blogs open windows into other lives, and thank heaven they do – or people who are serious about families – the joys and the responsibilities – could begin to feel they were very alone in the world.

Some day (mark my word), this network of bloggers will rise as a very real force and power in this world – it’s building now, mothers and sisters and daughters (and husbands, fathers, brothers – but mostly by association). When it is needed, the world will be a little shocked, I think, of a nation of families that are all connected, but spread all over the globe. For good. For love. For innocence. For the freedom to do the right thing.

I don’t know where that thought came from. But there it is. And you are one of the builders.

Lovely golden light, streaming through that tree, falling lightly on to you and your children,it can not reach you stuck indoors in the back bedroom. It is great you are getting outdoors, love and light Marie

Ahh, thank you for that beautiful glimpse of Autumn colour.
We live in Brisbane now and although is is officially autumn is was 30 degrees C yesterday and the children were swimming!
I mostly grew up, and spent a good deal of my adult life in our National Capital, Canberra, where the seasons are so defined and so very beautiful. Sydney is ok too but the really southern states do autumn and winter so much better! – and you don’t get all hot and sticky knitting!
    I love Charlie’s eyes too.

    Wow Kristen! Amazing comment!

Linda! I love this idea. I’ve read “Last Child in the Woods” and it really struck a chord in me. I grew up without a TV in the boonies. The world was my playground. Now, I am raising my children in the suburbs and quite frankly it is very difficult for me. It is a foreign land. Thank you for the encouragement that we can all do this and get our children outdoors more! I’m on it!!
