This post really should have been posted last week already, but so much has happened since then and with our internet being down, today was the first day I could do a proper post:) Our Jenna turned 13 years old last week!! I cannot believe that this special girl of ours is growing up so fast, the years have seemed to fly by us, and now 13, I can hardly believe it! The photo above is a photo of Jenna’s birth Orchids. I was given an Orchid plant the day Jenna was born and every year around her birthday it blossoms with the most wonderful blooms. We cut some and put them on her birthday table.
We baked a cake together, which is tradition on a birthday…
The day before Jenna’s birthday, Erin was injured in a horse jumping accident and she spent most of Jenna’s birthday in the emergency room having xrays and scans. We spent the day going between the hospital and our home. Erin was so sad she couldn’t be with her sister… We did all manage to go out for a family lunch together to celebrate Jenna’s special day and then afterwards we got a call to say that Erin’s leg brace was ready and we needed to take her back to the hospital to have it fitted. She has twisted her knee joint and is wearing a leg brace from her calf up to her thigh. She will have to wear it for 3 weeks … I am so thankful that Richard was home from work that day and we could be in all the places we needed to be… Last week was a hectic week, I am so grateful and thankful that Erin will be all right! And feel so blessed that my Jen is 13:)
Erin is doing well on her crutches and they have hardly slowed her down at all:) My poor girl… it gave us such a fright…
We took a drive down the highway yesterday to see all the flags that have been put up for the World Cup, it was amazing!
Wishing you all a wonderful week,
Linda

Happy Birthday to Jenna! I’m so sorry about the ER trip. That sounds scary. Those orchids are so beautiful.
what a neat place to live right now! I’m sure the air is thick with excitement…& I’m glad everyone is doing alright! hospitals are no fun.
Happy birthday Jenna! And feel better Erin!
♥
Happy 13th Birthday and may all your wishes may come true Jenna! :0)
Hope you still had a wonderful day!
All my best wishes for a speedy recovery Erin! :0)
Glad you didn’t break anything!!
I can only imagine how much celebration is going on with the World Cup. I watch pretty much every game right now. That’s when I do all my hand sewing.
It’s all in the timing and organization….
Have a wonderful day!
Sue
love and light to your family, cheers Marie
Every time I sniff at the stupidity of some peoples’ past times – climbing cliffs, jumping out of airplanes, riding motor bikes – my husband gives me a knowing smile. “Riding horses?” he says. As though I do anything really but feed the dears all day long and risk being crushed or stepped on or tramples (may there never be a sudden loud noise when I’m behind my Dustin!). And the knee. OH the knee. Bless her heart. Bless ALL your hearts. It does take the starch out of a birthday. But J looks happy. And the flowers – only in Africa. And in the end, all is well. I’m glad. None of us need any bad news.
I’m glad Erin is ok, and I hope Jenna had a happy birthday. Hopefully this week will be a bit calmer for you, Linda!
Warm birthday wishes to Jenna, and get well wishes to Erin! Whew, what a week you and your family had.
Happy 13, Jenna!
It is one of my greatest challenges as a mother, allowing my children the dignity of risk (within reason, kinda). Seeing Eldest sailing over her horse’s head, having her come back from snowboarding with a broken arm, and seeing any of them go down hard in a hockey game just TERRIFIES me. I want just to envelope them in safety. But of course I must let them grow, each in their own path – with as many safety precautions as possible! Erin, I wish you speedy healing…and you too, Linda!
never a dull moment around there, is there? happy birthday to jenna! those orchids are stunning.
A very happy birthday to Jenna! Her birthday orchid is just beautiful,no , exquisite. I’m so very sad to hear about Erin but so glad she will pull through. Is everyone enjoying the world cup because I can tell you we are. It really doesn’t matter who’s playing, it’s just the fun of getting together to watch the games. Be well.
Sorry for your poor Erin… hope her knee isn’t too painful. And Happy Birthday to your Jenna! Time does go too fast but at least we know how precious it is.
Blessings and magic to you all in SA
Love Donni

Birthing and birthday blessings to you and your teenager! and a speedly recovery to Erin. I broke my ankle last Christmas eve and crutches were not fun at all…tho we do have many, many stairs and i had a 5 month old baby!

Happy Birthday to Jenna!…13 is such a big age!…Congrats to you as well Linda 🙂
I am glad to hear that Erin is okay…Injuries involving horses are very scary, and I am glad to hear she is okay…
I remember the day I turned 13! It was huge! I was so grown up! I.Was.A.Teenager!! Officially! We celebrated it at my grandpa’s house in SanDiego CA. He gave me a stuff bear. I don’t remember anything else I got. Just that bear, from a grandfather that I hardly ever saw and wanted to love so badly but was scared to death of. 🙂
The flowers are just gorgeous!! Every Mother’s Day my husband buys me one to wear to church. I did not realize they grew in long bunches like that. How equisite.
So glad that the emergency room visit wasn’t more traumatic. Not fun and hope for a quick recovery. My niece jumps and we cross our fingers each time because as careful as you can be, you never know.
Happy Bithday to Jenna! your flowers are so pretty and so are you. Get well soon, Erin! those flags are festive… they make me feel excited about the world cup just looking at them 😉
