It is hard to believe that it is almost the end of August! Next month is a birthday month for us so it is going to be rather busy… We have all been busy with projects here…
I know my picture is on its side but for some reason it will not turn around, but you can see one strand over my index and middle finger and I pull it through and it turns into 3 strands! Here is the link with a video to show you how: http://www.joyofhandspinning.com/spin-navajo-ply.shtml it is really fun!
And here it is, the top skein, can you see the 3 ply? Underneath, I spun some Angora fiber from Angora rabbit fur, that took some getting used to but now I think I have got it.
Factor Jars for Maths:
This is our factor jar for maths, Erin wrote out numbers from 1 – 100 on small pieces of paper ( one number on each piece of paper) and placed them in a glass jar. Every morining when we have school Jenna and Erin each take turns choosing numbers from the jar and see how many factors can fit into that number and then they decide if they are prime numbers (only the factors of 1 and itself can fit into that number) or composite numbers (quite a few factors fit into that number) they really enjoy this…
SARCDA Show!
I few months ago I was contacted by a wonderful woman, who wanted to exhibit my knitted toys at South Africa’s beautiful SARCDA Christmas Toy Show at Gallagher Estates in Midrand. Toys are exhibited for Christmas and buyers from shops come from all over the country and overseas as well to see these toys and other products that are for sale and place orders for their shops. I feel very honoured to have been included and thank you so much Jeanine, you are a wonderful and generous person! I am so happy to have met you!
Richard and I drove through to the show on Saturday to meet this lovely person who was exhibiting my knitted toys and to see the show. It was wonderful and thank you Jeanine for all the sales and shops you have put me in contact with! I am most grateful!
Here are some of my knitted treasures that were chosen to go to the show and they will soon be on their way to their new homes around South Africa 🙂
Have a wonderful week everyone…
Warmly
Linda

I’m off to look at the pattern. My husband wants to knit something like this for the girls this Christmas.
Congrats on having your toys exhibited at the show, Linda. That is terrific. The Factor Jar is a wonderful idea– I wish I’d had something like that when I was learning math.
Erin’s hand warmers look nice, and so does your three-ply yarn. I so enjoy visiting your blog to see what you and your family are creating.
Hi Linda 🙂 It was a joy to visit with you a little while here today! September is a birthday month for us, too. I hope that your celebrations are filled with love and joy and time together.
Congratulations on being invited to the Christmas show! Love & hugs, Q
Those hand warmers are wonderful. A dear friend of mine knit some for me as a gift for Christmas, and I love them. I loved reading about all your happenings. Have a great day!
Wonderful! I just love that little donkey–donkeys are the most adorable creatures! 🙂
Those hand warmers are so nice, I love colors. I couldn’t find the pattern, but will have to look for something similar, I think Chloe and I would enjoy making them.
Congratulations on the Toy Show. You deserve it! Your toys are so sweet.
your yarn is gorgeous as are your knitted toys!!
beautiful work, congratulations : )
Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your lovely comments, I appreciate every one of them:)
Hi dear Linda
Such lovely happenings. The toy show sounds incredible – congratulations! Where do you find the time in a day for everything? You must be very organised and focussed!! I love that Navajo technique. I will follow the link at some point and give it a try. Thanks for posting about it! My spinning wheel is gathering dust until autumn whilst I enjoy to the very end our rapidly fading summer..Have alovely weekend dear friend!
Your creations are always so lovely.
I was thinking about you and your dear neighbor (down in the meadow) this weekend. Kayla had her lovely knitted friends out that we’ve got from the 2 of you. She just loves them and adores playing with them. I sat and just watched her for quite a while on Saturday and thought about how much love was put in creating the treasures she loves so much. ♥
The Navajo spinning technique looks really neat. I haven’t spn since I’ve had my little ones, but I’d like to get back into it. Love your knitted animals.
