Dyeing Yarn…

On Monday I went on an amazing yarn dyeing workshop with my wonderful friend Heidi. We had such fun and learned so much from our lovely friend Dana… Jenna and Erin were so excited when they saw me hand paint some yarn later that day, so they joined in and hand painted some masterpieces! This is what we have been dyeing…

Wow, it’s like a whole new world of colour has opened up, I just love it! Well, I’m off to dye up some more, my yarn is soaking in the kitchen:)

Take care…

Thank you for sharing this. I have enjoyed dying but all I have done is dip into a dye bath pan – I am going to try the saran wrap and drip method now – beautiful!

Oh, I wanna do it, too. Have I mentioned that I’d used Dharma light activated dyes on fabric? It’s the same sort of effect. That lovely blending of hues with surprises of bright concentration. It cost me dearly to cut into those pieces even when the quilt I was making was worth it. I want to come to your house and do it with the girls! I want to have gone with you and Heidi – Rachel could come with us. Incredibly fun. Your rainbow is my very favorite – jewel tones, but the girls’ yarns is just beautiful. Honestly, you amaze me.

Love the rainbow yarn! I’ve recently started dying, so far using food dyes. It’s quite addictive!

Jenna’s yarn is my fave…I’ve been drawn to those sunset shades lately…purples, oranges, pinks, yellows! Just gorgeous! Can’t wait to learn how to do this someday!

These are gorgeous! I LOVE the colours!!! I recently went on a shopping spree at a yarn store and came home with a basket full of goods. I was so upset when I realized that I forgot to get some white wool to play around with dying. Dang it!

You should make a tutorial!! I have been wondering myself the proper way to hand paint yarn. What kind of dye brand did you use?
