Real Meal Revolution

I’m almost finished the cowl I’ve been working on, I love this yarn, and the colour. It’s a nice easy pattern and once you get into the rhythm, it becomes a wonderful meditation, repeating round after round, producing a lovely textured piece. I can’t wait to put this up on the test knit group. My flu is almost gone, thank goodness and now I can get back to focussing on my knitting. Oh yes, before I forget, the yarn is from Nurturing Fibres, it’s called Moulin Rouge, double knit singles.  I think the name and the colour compliment one another well.

I’ve been reading aloud to Kye from these books above, they were my readers when I was in primary school. Does anyone remember these books?? They are so sweet. How can it be so long ago already?

I’m reading Real Meal Revolution again, it’s very interesting and informative. I want to improve the general health of our family. We’ve all been really ill lately and I do feel strongly that the food we eat has a direct impact on overall health.

Sunny Days Shawlette

Sunny Days Shawlette3

Carle’ over at Nurturing Fibres is generously offering her Sunny Days Shawlette pattern as a free pattern for May only, so I  popped over to her blog and used the coupon code on Ravelry and downloaded the pattern for free! This is so exciting! I know she will be posting about a KAL for this shawlette a little later today… I have already cast on:)

I am knitting my shawl in Nurturing Fibres super-twist sock yarn in the colourway Cape Columbine, such a stunning blue… I really love wearing shawls, they have the ability to turn a simple and plain outfit into something elegant and dressy.

At the moment I am reading Free Range Knitter by Stephanie Pearl-Mcphee on my i-pad, I just couldn’t help myself after reading her last book. I really LOVE that I can download a book instantly to my i-pad, I do enjoy the feel of books in my hands but I am also quite impatient and if I see a wonderful book, sometimes, I really need to have it ‘now’!

Goat

This little goat is a custom knit for someone in Canada, he is off travelling across the Atlantic Ocean to his new home right now. His pattern is available in my shop, I custom knit too:)

Sadie Horse

Sadie, will be added to my shop later today, she was knitted and made by Jenna.

Sherper Hat

I have been working on my Sherpa Hat design. I knitted it in Lopi Yarn and now I am going to re-knit it in a Nurturing Fibres Aran weight yarn. I am going to knit Erin one for her birthday on Monday. Shhh don’t say a word:) This design, reflects the mountains on the sides of the hat and Sherpa tents that would be put up during long mountain expeditions, so I thought, the Sherpa Hat was a fitting name. Kye graciously agreed to model it for me.

Autumn Sky Cowl 1

Thank you so much to everyone who offered to test knit the Autumn Sky Cowl pattern, the test knit is now full and is well underway on my Ravelry group.

Our weather is really cooling down here quite a lot, soon it will be time to light fires in the early mornings and evenings. I love sitting near the fire and knitting, I’m really looking forward to that.

Emerald Isle Cowl

Thanks so much to everyone who has joined my Christmas Ornament Swap, it’s going to be lovey!

I have been working on a cowl pattern for a few days, I just adore this shade of green, a real algae green, too beautiful! This has been such an exciting knit, I have loved watching the pattern elements develop into knitted stitches and the variegated wool is also something I enjoy tremendously, showing its subtle changes in colour and adding a whole new character to the piece once it is finished.

I am knitting this cowl in a DK merino wool from Colourspun on 5mm circular needles and it can be made as long or as thick as you wish by just adding more pattern repeats.  Pattern writing is so much fun and I think I am going to enjoy designing garments as well as knitted toy animals!

PS This is going to be a free pattern as soon as I have finished knitting it:)
