Knitted Santa Hat Christmas Ornament Pattern

This morning Erin said she would like to knit a Christmas ornament for our tree, we are going to add as many handmade ornamnets as we possibly can to our tree this year and we are in the process of making them now. She sat down with her pencil and paper and we set about designing a pattern. We worked out a design,  the decreasing rows and stitches and then and discussed how we would finish it off! What a proud moment for mama that Erie wants to write patterns! Erin asked if I would share our pattern with you, so of course I have and here it is:)

Materials:
Red and white yarn
Wool needle for sewing up
Ribbon for making your hanging ornament
Fleece for the end of your hat

Pattern:
This pattern is knitted flat with handspun yarn and size 4mm needles.
Cast on 20 stitches in white yarn and knit 4 rows in garter stitch.
Row 5: Change to your red yarn and knit.

Row 6: Purl
Row 7: Knit 5, knit 2 tog, knit 5, knit 2 together, knit 6. (18 stitches)
Row 8 to 11: Knit in stocking stitch (starting with a purl row)
Row 12: Purl 4, purl 2 together, purl 4 purl 2 together, purl 4, purl 2 together. (15 stitches)
Row 13 to 16: Knit in stocking stitch.
Row 17: Knit 3, knit 2 together, knit 3 knit 2 together, knit 3, knit 2 together. ( 12 stitches)
Row 18 to 21: Knit 4 rows in stocking stitch
Row 22: Purl 2, purl 2 together, purl 2, purl 2 togther, purl 2, purl 2 together. (9 stitches)
Row 23 to 26: Knit 4 rows in stocking stitches.
Row 27: Knit 1, knit 2 together, knit 1, knit 2 together, knit 1 knit 2 together.  (6 stitches)
Row 28 to 31: Knit 4 rows in stocking stitch.
Row 32: Purl 2 together, purl 2 together, purl 2 together. (3 stitches)
Row 33: Knit 1, knit 2 together.
Row 34: Purl 2 together.
Bind off.

Finishing off:
Sew up on wrong side.
Turn onto the right side and attach your ribbon.
Sew on a little tuft of fleece on the end of you hat, bend the top of your hat over and attach to the side of your hat and you are done!

Autumn Oak Leaf Knitting Pattern

Happy Sunday everyone:) As promised, here is my pattern for a knitted Autumn English Oak Leaf. This was really an enjoyable pattern to design. They are knitted flat and so quick to knit up:) I think they are perfect for place holders at weddings or functions, lovely to adorn nature tables, for story telling or play or even just a bowl full of these leaves on your dining room table would look wonderful…

Materials Needed:

Yarn in lovely Autumn tones.
Knitting needles.
Wool needle for sewing up.
Double pointed needles.

Abbreviations:
Knit – k
Purl – p
Knit 2 together – k 2 tog
Knit into front and back – knit into f & b (increase)

Pattern:

I knitted these leaves in a handspun Merino yarn with size 4mm needles.
Cast on 3 stitches
Knit 2 rows.
Row 3: Knit in to the front and back of the first stitch, purl 1, knit into the f & b of the last stitch (5 stitches)
Row 4: Knit
Row 5: Knit into f&b of first stitch, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, knit into f & b of last stitch. (7 stitches)
Row 6: Knit.
Row 7: K f & b first stitch, knit 2, purl 1, knit 2, knit into f & b of last stitch. (9 stitches)
Row 8: Knit.
Row 9: Knit 2 tog, knit 2, purl 1, knit 2, knit 2 together. (7 stitches)
Row 10: Knit.
Row 11: Knit 2 together, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, knit 2 together. (5 stitches)
Row 12: Knit.
Row 13: Knit into f&b of first stitch, Knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, knit into f & b of last stitch. (7 stitches)
Row 14: Knit.
Row 15: Knit into f & b of first stitch, knit 2, purl 1, knit 2, knit into f & b of last stitch. ( 9 stitches)
Row 16: Knit.
Row 17: Knit into f & b of first stitch, knit 3, purl 1, knit 3, knit into f & b of last stitch. (11 stitches)
Row 18: Knit.
Row 19: Knit 2 together, knit 3, purl 1, knit 3, knit 2 together. ( 9 stitches)
Row 20: Knit.
Row 21: Knit 2 together, knit 2, purl 1, knit 2, knit 2 together. ( 7 stitches).
Row 22: Knit.
Row 23: Knit into f & b of first stitch, knit 2, purl 1, knit 2, knit into f & b of last stitch. (9 stitches).
Row 24: Knit.
Row 25: Knit into f & b of first stitch, knit 3, purl 1, knit 3, knit into f & b of last stitch. (11 stitches).
Row 26: Knit.
Row 27: Knit into the f & b of first stitch, knit 4, purl 1, knit 4, knit into f & b of last stitch. (13 stitches).
Row 28: Knit.
Row 29: Knit into f & b of first stitch, knit 5, purl 1, knit 5, knit into f & b of last stitch. (15 stitches).
Row 30: Knit.
Row 31: Knit 2 together, knit 5, purl 1, knit 5, knit 2 together. (13 stitches).
Row 32: Knit.
Row 33: Knit 2 together, knit 4, purl 1, knit four, knit 2 together. (11 stitches).
Row 34: Knit 2 together, knit to the last 2 stitches, knit 2 together. (9 stitches).
Row 35: Knit 2 together, knit 2, purl 1, knit 2, knit 2 together. (7 stitches).
Row 36: Knit.
Row 37: Knit into f&b of first stitch, knit 2, purl 1, knit 2, knit into f&b of last stitch. (9 stitches).
Row 38: Knit.
Row 39: Knit 3 stitches, turn work, knit 3 stitches, turn work, knit 2 together, knit 1 stitch, turn work,
knit 2 together. Bind off. Attach yarn to the next stitch on the right side. Knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, turn
work, knit 3, turn work, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, turn work, knit 2 together, knit 1, turn work, knit
2 together. Bind off this section. Attach yarn to next stitch on the right side, knit 3, turn work,
knit 3, turn work, knit 2 together, knit 1, turn work, knit 2 together. Bind off.

Leaf Stem:
With double pointed needles, pick up 2 stitches at the base of your leaf and knit an I-Cord.

Sew in all your ends, and you have a beautiful Oak Leaf:)

Fairy Home Mushroom Knitting Pattern

Hi everyone, as promised here is the Fairy Home Mushroom Knitting Pattern:

It is so quick and easy to make if you start now you may be able to add them as stocking fillers for Christmas morning:)

Pattern:

I used handspun almost chunky yarn for this pattern…

Mushroom Cap:

Using a red yarn.

c/o 26 sts

rib for 2 rows (knit one stitch purl one stitch across both rows)

(*Knit 2 tog, knit 3 sts* across the row) and then at the end of the row  knit 2 tog knit 4 sts.(21 stitches)

Rib 1 row

(*Knit 2 tog, knit 2 sts* across the row) and at the end of the row knit 2 tog knit 3 sts.(16 stitches)

Rib 1 row.

(*Knit 2 tog Knit 1 sts* across the row) knit 2 sts at the end on the row. (11 stitches)

Rib 1 row

(*Knit 1 Knit 2 tog* across the row), knit 2 on the end.(8 stitches)

Rib 1 row

Knit 2 tog, knit 1, knit 2 tog, knit 1, knit 2 together (5 stitches)

For the last 5 stitches take a tapestry needle and thread the stitches onto

the needle and pull together, you can also sew down the seam to finish off

the mushroom cap on the wrong side and then turn it onto the right side.

Mushroom Stem:

Using cream yarn.

Knit as an i-cord

c/o 8 stitches

knit 14 rows and the cast off

sew in ends on the top, leave bottom open for stuffing, close base with a

circular piece of felt when finished stuffing the stem.

Chimney:

Using cream yarn.

Knit as an I-cord

c/o 3 sts

knit 5 rows

cast off and close the top of the chimney, attach the chimney to the

mushroom cap.

Finishing off:

Attach the roof to the top of the stem by sewing it together.
Cut a little door out of felt and sew onto the base of the stem to form a
door.
