April 1st, Germandolls

Welcome to our new sponsor Ulla, who creates the most beautiful handmade dolls and sells them in her Etsy shop, Germandolls.

German Dolls4

In Ulla’s words:

In an age when everything is made of plastic and synthetics, my cloth dolls are handmade with pure wool and cotton, natural materials that warm to body temperature as they are held. Have you ever hugged a plastic baby doll on a cold winter morning?

My soft, warm dolls are unique, huggable, and as individual as the children – young and old – who love them! I fashion my dolls using Waldorf techniques. It is an old tradition of making cloth dolls developed in Germany around 1900.

According to the Waldorf philosophy dolls should be made from what nature has given us: natural fibers such as sheep’s wool, mohair, and cotton. The dolls have a unique inner head construction which gives form but not detail to the face. Often the dolls have very simple features, sometimes no features at all.

A warm welcome to our new sponsor Sara from Woolies

At Woolies you will find the most beautiful heirloom quality stuffed animals and toys made from natural materials. Sara’s toys are amazing and fashioned according to the Waldorf / Steiner tradition.

A little more about Woolies and Sara:

Woolies combines my passion for knitting and my love of animals. Still a child at heart, I delight in the magic and joy that small animals bring to us. The comfort and warmth that a lovey portrays….I still have a few of my stuffed animals from my childhood long ago. They are cherished possessions.

We have nine animals currently on our little ranch – 2 horses, 4 dogs, 2 cats and a desert tortoise, many of them rescued animals. I adore each one like they are my children. They inspire me!
