The Next Installment of our Travelling Easter Tree Tutorials…

Hello everyone,
We are having such rainy weather at the moment, I love the rain… I am so looking forward to winter here, sitting by the warm fire, being all cozy and of course knitting… 🙂
And now for the next installment of Heidi and my Easter Tree Tutorials… I thought I would make some knitted Easter eggs for the tree:)
As you can see Heidi has added homemade Easter biscuits that are divine and you can find the recipe for them here. I have added solid and striped knitted Easter eggs, some I have knitted in cotton and bamboo and others I have knitted in Mohair.
Knitted Easter Egg Tutorial:
I have knitted these eggs with The Magic Loop technique:

Knitted Easter Egg Pattern:

Cast on 9 stitches on circular needles and divide up as seen in the photo above to start knitting:)
Knit 1 round
Knit into the front and back of each stitch in next round increasing your stitches to 18.

Knit into front and back of each stitch in next round increasing your stitches to 36.
Knit 6 rounds

(Knit 5 stitches knit 2 together) continue this across the entire round and knit 1 stitch at the end of the round.
Knit 1 round.
(Knit 5 stitches, knit 2 together) continue this across the ertire round, knit 3 stitches on the end.
Knit 1 round.
(Knit 5 stitches, knit 2 together) continue this across the round, knit 1 stitch on the end.
Knit 1 round.
(Knit 2 together) continue all across the round.
(Knit 2 together) continue all across the round, knit 1 on end.

(If you just want to knit a solid egg, just knit through all the rows on the same colour:)
Finishing off:

Break your thread and thread your yarn onto a wool needle and thread your stitches from your circular neeldes onto your wool needle and pull tight to close the opening. I normally fill the egg from this end and make sure the the wide base is firm and then fill the rest of the egg. Close both ends by threading tight in a circle with your thread and pulling tightly closed.

Roll your egg in your hands to get the required egg shape, and there you have an Easter Egg!

I just tied a little thread of rainbow yarn through the top of my egg so it could hang in the tree, you could also crochet a chain if you like.

Here is the actual link with photos of my knitted Easter Egg tutorial:)

If you have knitted any Easter eggs from this pattern already and blogged them, please share your blog post link with us in the comments, we would all love to see your creations:)

Knitted Easter Rabbit / Bunny Tutorial

Dear friends,
Thank you to everyone who sent well wishes our way yesterday:) Kye’s fever has gone and he is back to his bouncy self:) Caiden had croup this morning but is looking much better now and Jenna is also looking well 🙂
I have knitted this easter rabbit up for a friend of mine, he has been knitted with a handspun Angora plyed with Merino yarn. Enjoy the pattern below:
(I just wanted to add here, that the beautiful little charm in the photo above, the row counter was a gift to me from my dear friend Heidi. She is the creator of this wonderful row counter for circular knitting. She has done a lovely tutorial on her blog showing you how to make one here.)
If you haven’t used the Magic Loop before, here is a You Tube tutorial explaining how it is done. You can also knit this pattern with DPNs in the round:)
Easter Rabbit / Bunny Knitting Tutorial:
I used my 4 mm circular needles again, it is lovely not to have to sew up seams:)
DPNs are perfect too.
Cast on 9 stitches.
Round 1: Knit the first round.
Round 2: Increase into every stitch in the second round, you will now have 18 stitches.
Round 3: Knit 1 round.
Round 4: Increase into each stitch in the 4th round, you will now have 36 stitches.
Round 5 to 14: Knit.
Round 15: (Knit 2 stitches together) around the round, (18 stitches).
Round 16: Knit 1 round.
Round 17: (Knit 1 knit 2 together) around the round. (12 stitches).
Round 18: Knit 1 round.
Round 19: Increase into each stitch around the round (24 stitches).
Round 20 to 26: Knit.
Round 27: (Knit 1 knit 2 tog) around the round knit 2 stitches on the end (16 stitches).
Round 28: (knit 2 together around the round). (8 stitches).
Round 29: Knit.
Thread the remaining stitches with a wool needle with the thread end and pull, leave loose to stuff with stuffing.
Tail:
Cast on 5 stitches
Knit 10 rows in stocking stitch.( knit 1 row, purl 1 row, keep alternating).
Cast off.
See photos below for how to sew up the tail.
Ears:
Cast on 4 stitches, knit 10 rows.
Knit 2 stitches together at the beginning of each row until 1 stitch is left ( to shape the top of the ears).
Finish off.
Make two:)
How to make the tail:
Cast  on 5 stitches and knit 10 rows.
Fold in half, right sides together and sew up the left and right sides. It will look like a little bag open at the top.
Turn onto the right side and fill with fleece.
Thread your wool needle all the way around the opening of the tail and pull tightly.
And there you go, a little tail:)
Finishing off:
Close the bottom opening of the rabbit, fill with fleece from the top, once he is nice and firm with fleece, thread yarn through stitches on his head and pull thghtly to close opening. Sew on your tail and ears.
You are finished!

Enjoy knitting your little Easter Rabbits:) I would love it if you linked to your photos when you are finished making him / her 🙂

Knitted Easter Egg Pattern Tutorial

Hi everyone, thanks so much for all your lovely comments in my previous post, you are all so kind and I really do appreciate all of you:) I have been putting this tutoiral together this afternoon while I was sitting at baseball watching my little ones play:) I have knitted these Easter eggs with a magic loop on circular needles.
The magic loop is really fantastic, I love knitting in the round this way, because no matter how few stitches you have on your needle, you can still knit with ease:) I have taken a few photos of how I knit with the magic loop, I hope they are easy to understand. Please just email me if anything is unclear and I will try to help:)
I thought I would explain the magic loop first and then write the pattern down for you… On your circular needle, cast on 9 stitches.
Slide the stitches around to the middle of the wire.
Pull the wire through and out and move the stitches towards the ends of your needles.

Pull the back needle through and keep your stitches on the end of the front needle.

Bring the back needle around and start knitting your stitches on the front needle.

Once you have knitted the front stitches move your needles around again and pull the back one out and through and move the stitches on to the end of your front needle. Don’t forget to keep that little loop on the side where we divided up the stitches, this must always be there.
Turn your work around, pulling the back needle through again and the front needle holds the stitches on the end of the needle and knit them again. Just keep going round like this in the round.
This is how it will look after a while, your work in the middle of the needles with a loop on the left and a  needle continuously coming through the back and knitting the stitches on the front needle.
I hope this is kind of clear, there are videos on You Tube which I think would help instead of my photos and explanations:) My wonderful friend Heidi shared this lovely technique with me, she is an amazing knitter!
You Tube Videos:
K has sent in a You Tube link for how to knit with the Magic Loop:  Thanks so much K:)
