Orange

Today I am joining in with Evi over at Sister Sun and posting photos from my archives for the colour orange.

It is REALLY freezing here in Johannesburg at the moment, so looking at these wonderful orange shades does bring a little warmth..

We awoke to -3C this morning, with a temp inside of 4C, the fires have heated up our home wonderfully!

Today I am grateful for warm clothing and indoor fires.

Have a lovely day!

Rainbows and Tree Houses, Oh Yes…

Today has been a day of working with colour and rainbows, learning about the colour spectrum and how colour emerges. It has been an exciting day indeed!

We are greeted by many rainbows all over our classroom walls each morning as the sun shines through a crystal hanging in the window…

My Shalom is almost finished, it has been such an enjoyable project that has taken much longer than I anticipated. It has been a journey and I think that is the important part for me… so much has happened since I started knitting this cardigan and when I wear it, I know I will reflect on all those moments and experiences during its creation process…

Kye has been loving this tea set, we have all been served copious cups of tea to drink, so sweet:)

Some of Erin’s colour mixing experiments… It is so magical to see the different colours suspended and then slowly mixing within the water…

Jen is busy learning about the art of the short story and this book has been a wonderful resource.

A chicken or two do tend to sneak in at the window sometimes for a wee visit…

Caiden has been working on his tree house in the Loquat tree, he has built it all by himself and is tremendously proud of his work, as am I.

How has your Thursday been so far?

Take care

Grade 7 Waldorf Physics Block, Colour, Magnetism and Refraction

Jen has just finished her Physics block and now we have moved on to Chemistry, this is what she has been busy with over the last week.

This was an amazing experiment. We filled a round glass bottle with water, stuck a cork onto the bottle and inverted it into a large and sturdy glass. We placed a lit candle behind the bottle filled with water and it emitted the most radiant light through the water filled bottle. This experiment was done at night in the kitchen with the lights off. This method of lighting came about, many years ago before there was electricity. People would like to sit and sew and as night approached, it became too dark to sew and then some clever soul came up with this idea:)

If anyone is blogging their school year for grade 8, grade 6 or grade 4. Please would you leave your link in the comments, I would love to see what you are busy with:)

Some Colour for You…

We have had so much rainfall over the last few weeks… Floods in Pretoria yesterday which is about 30 minutes away from our home, so many people have lost their lives here in South Africa from all the rain, it is so very sad…
All over the southern hemisphere there has been so much tragedy, our thoughts are with all of you…

I wanted to post something uplifting, I thought, colour would be good… some colour for the soul…

Wishing you a day full of colour and happiness…
