Creative Friday and a Circular Cowl Scarf Pattern

Welcome to Creative Friday.

This is the special project I have been knitting for a dear friend’s birthday, a circular cowl scarf. I spun the beautiful BFL and silk roving and then knitted it up over a few days. I love the softness of luxury yarns, perfect for a scarf that is going to be worn so close to the skin. I spun up the roving to about a double knitting or Aran weight yarn and knitted the cowl with size 10 mm needles, this gave the scarf a lovely lacy, airy feel, so that it wouldn’t be heavy when worn. I knitted it in the round on circular needles with a long cable.

Once finished theย cowl will wrap around your neck 3 or 4 times, so soft and warm.

Here is the pattern:)

Materials:

10 mm circular needles with a long cable

Hand spun yarn about a Dk or Aran weight

Wool sewing up needle

Pattern:

Cast on 118 stitches on circular needles and join for knitting in the round.

The cowl looks great. I have a question about the yarn…it looks like single ply. Is it? Did you have a problem with it trying to twist on itself while you were knitting (if it is single ply).

      Hi Natalie,
Yes, it is a single ply and it didn’t twist up at all whilst I was knitting. I am quite inspired to knit up a few more, such a quick knit:)
