What a lovely surprise Erin and I got today when we went to the post office to collect parcels. There, amongst the packages was a brown envelope addressed to Erin. She was so excited to have a parcel addressed just for her! She opened it and inside was the most gorgeous embroidered felt chicken, so beautifully hand sewn from my lovely friend Kristen. When I saw what you sent my daughter, I cried… how thoughtful of you to have sent her this lovely gift for the loss of her dear chicken, Alice… I have no words… Thank You so much. Losing Alice was very difficult for Erin and you have helped her tremendously with this precious gift… such beautiful detail… We are also thrilled to own a copy of one of your books! You are wonderful!!

Isn’t this gorgeous…

I have finished my custom knit for someone overseas, the request was for a royal purple lion, he is a gift for a baby shower…

I am still knitting as fast as I can for Jenna’s birthday, the Shalom Cardi has had to wait a few days so that I can finish Jenna’s birthday cardigan. I just have to pick up the stitches for the sleeves and knit them and then it is finished:) These cardigans for my family have become my favourite item of clothing to knit:)

This is such a special plant, I was gifted with this orchid on the day Jenna was born by my mother-in-law, almost 14 years ago. Each year from May onwards it produces the most beautiful blooms.

Happy Wednesday…

Reading your blog is an experience that hangs somewhere between a long cool drink on a summer’s day and a warm place by the fire in the winter. I always love it. And Erin’s sweet face. I couldn’t stand to know what she was feeling – though I knew she had plenty of grounding and comfort within her beautiful family.

The royal lion is marvelously striking. As is all your work, of course. But each piece of it is worth a dance. And a dance keeps the heart buoyant.

Oh, wait – I forgot to say how beautiful the orchid is, and how lovely, lovely, lovely that you came by it in so much love, and that it lives – flourishing, just like your family.

And this: I think the chickens liked the little buff hen. I am very pleased by that.

Such a lovely chicken and what a kind thought to have made and sent it.

Your cardi is looking fantastic. Can hardly wait to see it when it’s finished.

I’m still plugging away on the Shalom. Have a great day.

I love that lion and his mighty mane! And you can’t find a better friend than Miss K, can you? Erin will love that chicken for always.

Linda, what does it say on the back of the chicken? I want to be in your family so I can get a cardigan and I want to live in the place where something that beautiful grows outside!

    Dear Donna,
At the back it says, ‘Not Alice but she remembers’

Isn’t she just so sweet. Kristin sent the boys a lovely little pony embroidered similar to this….and just last week we passed by her home during our travels and spent a lovely afternoon with her, her horses and adorable dogs. So very sweet she is… Now she has met my little ones!

Happy Birthing day and happy birthday to a special young lady!

AAAACCCCCKKKK! She makes hens too???? KRISTEN!!!!!!! (Poor poor Kristen. Here we go again…..) I NEED ONE OF THOSE TOO!

Knowing Kristen as I know her, this does not surprise me one bit that she made a little hen for you girl. When my son lost his bunny, she felted the sweetest little bunny for him. Kristen’s heart is as big as this world and we all fit in it.
