I had no intention of posting a second post today but then I finished the Summer Blouse for Jen and I was just so excited at how it turned out that I had to blog it! OK, this is my first attempt at a garment, so please, all the experienced sewists, forgive my obvious errors, (blush) I do intend to improve… I really enjoyed this project, it was so meditative in a way, setting everything out and slowly piecing it together. Jen is really happy with her new blouse, so this of course made it all worth it for sure! It is really difficult to see the print on the fabric in the photos, but I did post a photo of it
here. I am also very grateful for the comments from readers who made me aware of the errata pages that are avaliable, this was such a great help especially with the sleeves as some of the markings were missing off the pattern and this would have confused me to no end, thanks so much!
Hope you are all having a wonderful New Years day.
I really like Jens blouse…it looks so comfortable and cool. Way to go! I am an awful at this type of project. If I cant sit down and sew it by hand I am lost. And I own 3 sewing machines. ;P
the blouse is beautiful as is that stunning girl of yours. xoxo
A beautiful blouse on such a beautiful girl!
Nice work, a blouse is not the easiest garment to start with. In my previous career I was paid to sew and I loved it, sadly I don’t sew much anymore but I think I will have to start again. Keep up the sewing.
Wow what a great job for a first project! I am still trying to master the art of pattern readiing and have found that sometimes it is easier to take apart a garment and make my own. So many things I want to master and so little time…..good on you for starting I think you have a will of steel to be able to make the blouse and not play on your new wheel 🙂
Thank you everyone, I really enjoyed making this garment and I can’t wait to make something else. Erin has been asking for a carry bag, so I need to look at that next:)

Ah – I LOVE having a finished project. And I love the word “satisfaction,” which I am suspecting that you feel at this moment. Jen looks happy and comfortable – and that’s the greatest pay-off.
Congrats on finishing the blouse, Linda. It looks terrific.

Looks like you did a great job, though I am no experienced sewer either! It looks lovley on her too!
The shirt is simply stunning! Really, the fit is perfect, it is simple and beautiful! Great, super great job on it! Gonna start selling these?!
