African Skies…

Dear Friends,
Thank you all so much for being such caring, wonderful people! You have all been so supportive. To all of you who phoned, emailed and commented on my blog about my dad, I feel very blessed and honoured to know you all. My father is home now from hospital and is recovering slowly. We are all very relieved and so grateful that he is growing stronger each day:)
This last weekend we went to stay at our friend’s lovely farm in Belfast, Mpumalanga. It is a spectacular farm, totally off the grid. All the water comes from a natural spring and the power is solar…lovely!

My love sitting by one of the trout dams…
The road up to the farm…
You can see the solar panels on the side of the farmhouse…
The farmhouse…
I just love these African skies…
Blesbok on the farm, they also have Zebra, Aardvarks, Wildebeest, Springbok etc…
We hiked up this very steep hill to the top, it was amazing!
Playing in the creek of the trout dams…
What an awesome experience, there are so many rocks on the farm that show mechanical weathering erosion, so our visit was an educational one too:)
Wishing you all a wonderful week:)

I am so relieved. I hate the feeling in the pit of your stomach when someone so dear to you – when something sudden happens, and the world stumbles.

The farm is magnificent. I wish I had been there with you. It’s beautiful riding land, too – I’d come with my horse. But perhaps that wouldn’t be the best idea in a wild place. The house – mmm. The skies – so lovely. Your children – precious, and as beautiful as the world around them.

    Dear K,
Thank you, thank you, for your wonderfully caring words:) It is so good to see my dad looking well again, we were so afraid for him, and now he is almost back to himself again:) I think we will have to go for a ride on the farm, you need to visit:)

Perhaps some day I will. It’s no further, in theory, than flying to London. A ride on the farm. It just sounds lovely.

Now, the trick is keeping whatever happened from ever happening again. Sometimes these things are a wake-up call. A friend of ours had a heart attack, and we changed the way we were eating and doing some things after that, because of his example. But you and your family are already living in the wisest of ways-

I’m so glad to hear your father is home and recovering, Linda. That African sky is SO beautiful. Thanks for sharing those gorgeous pictures, especially the one of the animals. I have always wanted to go to African and almost took a trip to Tanzania many years ago, but didn’t end up going.

I am so pleased to hear that your father is healing. I will hold him in my thoughts.

And those photos are just breathtaking! When I see the animals you got to appreciate at the farm, it makes me chuckle at my excitement of seeing a moose the other day. But he/she was most certainly magical too, just not exotic.

So happy for you and your family. May your Dad recover quickly.

What a beautiful place. Your photos are amazing – I especially like the one with the moon in it.

I have never been to a place such as this – you are truly blessed.

    Much love, Nicole
