I have wound it into a skein and you can see the ply…. Just want to spin all day now, I have the most beautiful rovings in my cupboard, but I want to spin a little more before I take those out to spin….
Our birdfeeders are full for our many feathered friends that visit us each day….
Sock Wool Giveaway:
This beautiful hand dyed ball of 100g sock wool has been very kindly donated by my friend Carle’, www.ourholisticlife.blogspot.com for my giveaway. Carle’ has hand dyed this wool herself and also has a stunning Etsy shop where she has just listed her hand spun wool, http://www.nurturingfibres.etsy.com/
If you would like to enter the giveaway, please leave a comment on my blog and I will choose and announce the winner next Saturday.
I would really appreciate it if you would link to this giveaway in your blogposts for more people to have a chance to win, but if you would just like to enter and not post about it, that is just fine too. I look forward to hearing from you all….
Have a lovely 4th of July weekend…. I of course, will be spinning….
Warmly
Linda

I had just commented that while it’s summer here, I needed to find some beautiful sock wool to knit up while sitting on the Eastern beaches – to get ready for our heavy snow winter. Thank you for the chance to win some! Beautiful blog, I enjoy it every time you write.
I really want to learn to spin. I have a friend nearby that can teach me, it’s just a matter of having enough time in the day…
Your yarn is georgeous, and so is the yarn for the giveaway!
Keeping my fingers crossed….
And I will post about it on my blog.
Don’t know if you know, but there are websites that you can post your giveaway on, for example,

What beautiful wool!! What a beautiful blog! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

That is awesome looking yarn.
Oh the spinning looks really great!
Well done
I’m still knitting my first pair of socks, but I’m hooked. I would love the chance to win some yarn for pair number 2. I enjoy your blog regularly, and keep tucking away ideas for when my son is older (he’s a month shy of 3). Thanks again!
Hi Linda,
Is your giveaway for people outside of South Africa, too? If so, I would be happy to post about it on my blog. That sock yarn is gorgeous!
It’s so strange to read that it’s winter there … I am sitting by the pool in a summer dress as I type this! Your birdfeeder made me smile, I love it when people help support birdlife by feeding them. The picture of Caiden fingerknitting is so sweet– I used to teach kids to fingerknit in a beginning knit class and would have them add large beads as they knit to make bracelets. At Halloween we added plastic pumpkins and bat beads. It was quite fun.
Hi dear Linda
I loved reading about your chats. Caiden certainly looks absorbed with finger knitting. It is wonderful when our children really get involved in an activity, isn’t it. What fantastic wool you spun up. There’s no stopping you now, that is for sure! Happy spinning.
Have a great weekend.
You did an amazing job spinning Linda! Your yarn looks so gorgeous! I am still learning, learning, learning my wheel : ) We enjoy making fingerknit garland for our Christmas tree, Christmas being so far off where I am but so close for you!
Linda…wow! Such a beautiful blog you have! So amazing that you live in Africa…I have had friends that have visited there a few times.
Your spinning is beautiful! Good luck with your efforts…you are so lucky to have someone such as Carle’ to guide you on your way! Oh, and thanks Carle’ for donating your beautiful yarn for this giveaway!
Hi everyone
Thanks for all your wonderful comments, you are all so kind! Yes this giveaway is definately open to the whole world.
Warmly
Linda

Ooh, enter me please! I just love your wool so much! I meant to tell you that Finn loved his mama owl (that’s what he calls her) that I gave him before I left town. Thanks so much, Linda!
Hi Linda,
I heard about your blog from golden bird and when she recommends, I rush right over! I don’t think I have seen a more peaceful and contented child than your Caiden finger knitting. That photo is lovely!
I will post about your blog and giveaway in the next couple of days.

What a nice giveaway! My goal this year is to learn how to knit socks. 🙂
Hi from Ottawa, Canada. We’re team members of yours in NaturalKids! I loved finding out about your blog, and seeing photos and reading about your way and rhythm of life in South Africa. I just came in from planting in pots in our tiny urban backyard, dreaming of having chickens and fresh eggs and wondering if my neighbors would tell on us 🙂 Your blog posts are very inspiring, and so is your beautiful yarn. I’m just learning to knit – have made 1 blanket so far, but would love to make some warm socks for our VERY FROSTY winters up here. I’m enjoying many of these things again (gardening, embroidery, pottery, baking) after so many years of hiatus in my teens and mid-20s. Now that I have a toddler and my own family, I’m finding my way again. I’d love to be entered in the contest. Thank you.
I would love to be entered in your giveaway. I just discovered your blog so have to read backwards a bit to see what you are posting. What a beautiful color sock yarn!

Hi,
I just entered a comment, but may have pressed the incorrect key… so I’m back! I found out about your blog and giveaway of beautiful sock yarn through the Naturalkids team thread – we’re also part of the team and I’m thrilled to read about your work and life in South Africa. I was gardening this afternoon, in little pots in our little patch of urban green, wondering if we could have chickens and if any of our neighbors would “tell on us” 🙂 I hear this is a a growing phenomenon. I’m just learning to knit, and thoroughly loving it. Working with my hands provides such therapeutic joy, it is an integral part of health and happiness, and I’m looking forward to knitting a lot as we can have rather chilly winters up here in Ottawa. Thanks for entring me in the giveaway!
Thanks for the opportunity to win this giveaway. I have enjoyed reading through your blog and now wonder if I should try spinning. You make it sound so wonderful! Love the colors of the prize sock yarn.

Enjoyed reading about your chickens and seeing pictures of them. My daughters keep asking me to get some chickens so they can take care of them and have fresh eggs. Would love to be entered into the sock wool giveaway. Thanks! Ann
Hi Linda,
Please include me 🙂
I am soooo envious of the lovely spinning wheel you have. I would love to learn to spin.

The yarn is beautiful Linda!…It was about 85 degrees here today and it is hard to believe it is not hot everywhere 🙂
Your spinning looks great!
Wow…what pretty yarn! My best friends mother knits all of his socks and they gave me a pair for my 16th b-day this year. But, I really love to wear mix-match socks…so his mom said that she would love to teach me how! This yarn would be perfect, and it would even harmonize with my first pair! What a great blog and giveaway!
We have one small length of your yarn & 4 chickens. LOVE them & I’d love to win some more!
