A task for tomorrow…

Corriedale Crosses1

Today was a very productive day, I tackled my wool room, it’s really been in a bit of a state lately. I pulled everything out of the cupboards, threw away and re-purposed a lot of stuff. I found plenty of things I had forgotten I even owned!! So it was a really good exercise all round.

I am also going to take out my spinning wheel tomorrow and start spinning up this gorgeous roving I received in a swap from the lovely Sara who used to blog over at Farmmama. It’s beautiful fibre from her own sheep, they are Corriedale Crosses, some black and some white. She had the mill card the black and white together. I think it’s just gorgeous! I can’t wait to start spinning it up!

I love:

Seeing our firewood stacked and ready for winter fires, it makes me feel cozy…

My spinning wheels patiently waiting in the passage, reminding me to spin soon…

Our chickens that are experiencing their pre-autumn moult, eggs are few and far between now and they look really funny with feathers sticking out all over the place…

The green spaces in our garden that feed my soul…

Taking out some luxury hand spun yarn I spun during Tour de Fleece and thinking of the perfect project for it. (Which I still haven’t decided on yet)

Watching Delilah grow into a teenage cat, she is so sweet but has a habit of running up our legs with claws out. (ouch!)

How do you Spin on a Charkha?

I just had to pop in here tonight to share my excitement with you!

My dear friend Dana, has a friend called Linda who is moving down to the coast, she was giving away a few items and one of them was a Charkha for spinning. The Charkha is one of the oldest spinning tools and was also used often around the time of Ghandi, if you would like to read more about it’s history go here. Dana asked me if I was interested in having it and I said yes! This one is actually from India, I have seen them before, but I have no idea how to use one. Some wonderful new learning will be taking place here this week, that’s for sure. Have you ever spun on one of these? If you have please could you give me a few tips:)

Not only did she send me this lovely spinning tool, but she also sent me a whole bag of beautiful, soft roving! How very generous, I am incredibly grateful!

Hope you have had a lovely weekend.
