Today we took a drive through to the Fourways Farmers Market, I’ve been wanting to visit there for ages and finally we went. It was amazing, lovely peaceful atmosphere with wonderful food and fabulous live music. There was a quaint garden where we could eat lunch sitting on squat wooden logs around small tables. Just Loved It!! We also managed to buy some grass-fed meat and some coconut flour cooking kits for biscuits and pizza bases that are totally gluten-free. I can’t tall you how wonderful I feel now that I’m no longer eating wheat, I just feel amazing! If you follow the Wheat Belly Facebook page you will be shocked at the transformation people are having just by giving up wheat, truly phenomenal! PS also discovered another nice blog for Paleo, Gluten-free and dairy-free recipes, it’s called The Spunky Coconut.

Richard and I went to put the chickens to bed and fetch the eggs, I feel so grateful each time we find these precious eggs in their laying basket, such wonderful gifts from our feathered girls.

I’ve just discovered Paleo Magazine, downloaded it through the Zinio app on my iPad and made this divine chocolate fridge tart recipe today. I’m so pleased as well with how it turned out. It’s free from wheat and dairy and the kids loved it, what a bonus! Lovely magazine too, full or yummy recipes that are good for you and plenty of information too.

Happy Sunday to you:)

The rain finally arrived! It’s been raining since Saturday afternoon, non-stop until mid-day today. It has been glorious!! Our garden looks lush and green, it was just in time as well, all our veggie and flower seeds have started to grow, now they are off to a wonderful start.

I sewed up the little sheep family at hockey practice on Saturday, it’s amazing how much you can get done, while sitting at hockey practice…

Our wheat free journey has been an interesting one so far, after reading Wheat Belly, we have almost completely eradicated wheat from our diet. It’s in almost everything, I just wish more people could read that book and  realise just how toxic wheat is. Since I’ve stopped eating wheat, I’ve lost 10 kg and my skin is so soft and clear, I’m just thrilled! Anyway, I have been downloading some lovely cooking books off of Amazon, the one above, Against All Grain has beautiful recipes and so does, Everyday Paleo. These are my go to books right now. I made banana flap jacks today for snack using some almond and coconut flour, they were delicious!

I hope your week is off to a wonderful start!

Beach Adventures

 A message from my love…

I found a blue-bottle on the sand.

Some sea treasures I found along the beach today.

Frozen yoghurt

Finally, today, we got to spend some time on the beach. It’s been raining and so windy, not the greatest weather for four very energetic children, the cabin fever has been quite high! Caiden has also just recovered from a really awful bout of gastro, at least he looks more like himself today, poor thing. We have visited all the small towns nearby and went to the famous Wakaberry frozen yoghurt shop, yummy stuff that and we were actually thinking about returning home a few days early when the skies cleared, much to my relief. We could venture out onto the golden sand again. The weather forecast is not too promising as far as our weather App is concerned but I’m really holding thumbs that will change. Today we went in search of a lighthouse that we can see far in the distance from our apartment balcony, we couldn’t find it after driving around this afternoon, so we’ve decided to go on a hike tomorrow and walk there instead of driving all the winding back roads.

Richard and I have just finished listening to an amazing podcast by Robb Wolf about gluten and grains, I don’t think either of us including our family will be eating these again any time soon! It really is a podcast worth listening to.

Wishing you a wonderful week.

Creative Friday

Hello friends, it has been a week full of cooking and recipe searching for me. I started the Whole30 last Sunday and I’m on day 6 today. I feel wonderful and so happy, I’ve had 2 detox headaches but other than that, all’s well. We have been eating the most delicious foods too! Basically doing a Whole30 entails not eating any sugar, grains, dairy, legumes and a few other foods for 30 days. If you want to read more about it go here.

Oh yes, today for lunch we had bacon ‘sandwiches’, (2 pieces of bacon with guacamole in between), cauliflower ‘mash’, steamed veg and a salad. The kids loved it! Both of these linked dishes above are amazing!

Have a wonderful weekend:)
