After you have shaken your jar for quite some time, about 15-20 minutes, you will see that your butter is starting to take shape and it is changing to a beautiful golden colour.

Rinsing your butter
Once your butter has formed and it is lovely and yellow, you can rinse it in a collander with cold water.
