This week I have been working on my spinning, I spun up a Beautiful Camel Silk roving, the roving was so soft and stunning to spin, the silk smells so divine… Here it is spun up on my spinning wheel.
And here I have skeined it…
I am knitting an Autumn horse with it, I will post photos when he is finished…

These are the most beautilful flowers that my hubby sent me for Spring Day last week 🙂 And now that they are almost wilting, I decided to turn them into a dye bath for my organic skeins of yarn.
My girls helped me to pull off all the petals and put them into the dye pot, and I slowly brought the pot to the boil, it was a slightly murky shade, and I thought oh well… but then I added some mint leaves and lemon juice and this beautiful vibrant colour was released, it truly is vibrant… I mordanted my skeins first for half and hour and then I added them to the dye pot to simmer. I will blog the skeins when they are dry. As you can see the skein on the top of the photo is lighter than the bottom one. This is because it is organic and contains more Lanolin, the bottom skein is darker as it is not organic, contains less Lanolin and takes on more of the colour. They are both absorbing the dye beautifully though. It is still in the pot at the moment…
Happy Wednesday to you…

A sleeping Puma

We even got to see them taking a Honey Badger for a walk, he was so playful and decided to climb up the wall.
Erin is planting the Pansies she chose…
The chickens all came out to help…
This is our new chicken, called Puddles, she is quite a character and so friendly, if we sit down outside, she hops on our laps and goes to sleep… Erin with her knitting and Puddles on her lap…

I spun this last night, it was a varigated roving that I plyed with some Icelandic sheep wool, Have no idea what I will knit with this, any suggestions? Maby a squirrel?
This is the area where our rabbits live, we have been fixing it up over the last week, planting plants and putting up wooden fencing. We built this little stream so that the boys could float their boats that they make from leaves.
Our chickens have all moved into a new wooden home that we had made for them this week, yesterday we fenced off a run for them and it has all turned out rather nicely. Now they are cozy and warm for the winter. The white one sitting on the fence is called Bumbles, and further down is Marigold, yes, they all have names… sweet hey…
