Although Whole Family Rhythms focuses primarily on the ‘early years’ the daily activities are flexible and varied enough to inspire and work for families of all ages and sizes.

 The Sitting Tree Button

 The Sitting Tree:

We are Liz and Mike, a pair of soon to be off grid homesteaders, living in the northwoods of Wisconsin with a trio of wildly creative and beautiful unschooled boys, an English Setter called Bailey, and a reclusive black cat who wandered into the house a few years ago and never left.In the shop you’ll find an ever changing variety of natural, sustainable products including our homemade soaps, tree branch buttons and ornaments, upcycled clothing, knitting patterns and hand dyed yarns. If you’d like to join us for stories about creating, homeschooling, and our journey to homesteading, meet us under the old oak tree at The Sitting Tree.

Nurturing Fibres2

Nurturing Fibres is a South African based dye house run by the lovely Carle’. In her words: My dye house is the fun room, this is where I clear my thoughts and allow the colours to guide me. I start with 3 colours, Yellow, Red and Blue. Then I  apply the dyes and allow the colours to move into each other and the yarn. Sometimes, I have a very clear sense of what I want to achieve and other times all I know is that I want to  dye yarn. It’s when I have no expectations that I create the wonderfully tonal colours like, ‘London’  available on Betwixt. When I dye my club yarns, I look to nature for inspiration, select a photo and then interpret it onto the yarn. These colourways have between 40 to 50 yards before the colour repeats, so these are super fun to knit and you never quite know what colour or design the next knitted row will bring. The end result is you knit fast and  finish your project quickly.
