Yarn Along

Oaklet Shawl

Oaklet Shawl3

I went to visit my friend Joan this afternoon for tea and homemade biscuits, all the children played and I wound this gorgeous skein of yarn into a ball. I love winding yarn, it gives me a chance to really think about the project that I’m about to start knitting and to connect with it, so to speak. As the yarn moves through my fingers with each new wrap around the steadily growing ball, I can visualise the completed project and the different stitch techniques involved throughout the pattern…

I bought this wonderful yarn from A Stash Addict a little while ago and didn’t really have any idea what I was going to knit with it. Today, while searching Ravelry for shawl patterns, I found the Oaklet Shawl pattern and loved it instantly. I felt that this yarn would be perfect!

I’ve wound all 437 yards into a ball, already cast on and I’m thrilled with the pattern and colourway that’s emerging so far.

That is some beautiful yarn! And a great pattern to pair it with…

Good luck with the rat — that’s a terrible thing to go through. Even when it’s over — you are forever wondering if you’re catching a slight Eau du Rat!

What beautiful yarn. I have a swift and ball winder, but find myself repeatedly winding my skeins into balls by hand.

Gorgeous yarn! I always hope to find a yarn like that in a wool and acrylic free blend as I’m allergic but the colours are never so rich as they are with wool.
