It’s been a weekend of knitting blanket pieces and I have added a new design, a little flat heart with holes all around the edges, I prefer this one… The Recovery Blanket we are making takes about 121 rectangular pieces, we have knitted about 60 pieces so far. There are so many people contributing from all over the world, I am so grateful to all of you for making this special project for my mom possible:) Thank you!!

PS I have had a few questions about the yarn over in the pattern, it just means take the wool around the needle and then continue knitting, it will make a hole.
My mom bought this shawl in the late 1940s and gave it to me a few years ago, I really love the pattern and would like to make a few for myself in different colours. It’s a crochet pattern (I am not too good at crochet) but I’m going to go and search for it on Ravelry anyway. Anyone seen anything similar before?
Happy Monday!

Hi, I have the pattern for this shawl in a vintage crochet book! (not in English, but in Dutch…)
Feel free to contact me if you want it! I have been wanting to make it also, it is a great shawl.
Thanks so much I will write to you for the title:)
Hallo dear Linda,
I have already one heart finnist, but I make the other one, you are right is nice, I have one question is aran goat wool? I have used Texelwool but it is soft.
Lots of greets from island Texel,
Nellie
Hi Nellie,
Thank you so much!! I am so looking forward to receiving it!
The aran is a weight of wool, a thickness. Your wool sounds wonderful.
You live on a beautiful island.
Take care
Linda
This pattern looks very similar to a shawl I made for my mother in the early 70’s that was called Black Magic Shawll. I got the pattern from an old McCall’s Needlecraft magazine and at the moment I have no idea where it is located. I would be interested in any information you receive regarding this pattern, because I would love to make another one. ~Brenda
Thanks Brenda, it is a little different, the Black Magic Shawl is lovely though.
Linda…I have seen that exact pattern…Try Herschenners.com, MaryMaxim.com or Anniesattic.com..
The Black Magic is beautiful but a bit different.
I hope that helps a bit.
Camilla
Thanks Camilla! I will go on a search and see what I can find:)
I like your knitted heart squares better than the all garter stitch squares. The contrast stitches show the heart more. 🙂
Mine is coming yet. But I’m having trouble with the gauge – my worsted weight is lighter, I think, than your aran, so I’ve had to go up to 4.5. But you are allowed to pat my square lovingly and not use it if it’s wrong. It’s the love that counts anyway.
Are you still looking for the pattern for the shawl?
