Creative Friday

This is not the best quality photo but I took it minutes before Jen left for her wonderful adventure…

I have been wanting to share this photo and its story for about a week, but with everything that’s been happening, this is the first time I am able to share this important news. Last Friday, Jenna and six other girls set off on a Gig Adventure with the Sea Scouts. They are the first all girl crew to attempt rowing 90km down the Vaal River. They started rowing at 12:00 AM on Friday morning in the dark and rowed non-stop for 18 hours. They finished on Saturday evening, exhausted but exceptionally proud that they had completed this amazing task of endurance! We are so thrilled for her and the crew!

We are thrilled that South Africa has won Gold Medals in the 2012 Olympic Games, well done to Chad Le Clos, Cameron van der Burgh and our rowing team!! So exciting!!! All the Olympians throughout the world taking part in the 2012 Olympics are fantastic and inspiring beyond words!!!

Update for my dad:
My dad continues to sleep deeply and we continue to pray for his recovery… Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers, it means the world to me.

Hooray for your daughter and her friends. I’ve been very frustrated with the Olympic coverage here. It’s always swimming. I’ve yet to see Track or Gymnastics.

Wow, they rowed for 18 hours?? We went kayaking last week in the ocean, for 2 hours. Very fun, but definitely strenuous.
Thanks for the update on your Dad. I continue to send prayers from the other side of the world.

Oh dear, I think I messes this up. The title is wrong. Maybe you can fix it. Need more coffee…
Dear Linda, I hope to see some pictures of the girls on the river. It sounds like such a neat adventure! I am glad they got to do this.

Also, I am thinking of you and your dad a lot. I hope you can feel the good thoughts that so many people who care about you are sending from all over the world. Yes, it’s like the Olympics, when we watch the athletes compete we know that we are not that different. We come together as a family who loves sports and competition.
