Materials:
Green Mohair Yarn, double knitting (DK) weight.
Size 4mm circular needles for knitting in the round with the Magic Loop Technique or 4 double pointed needles to knit in the round.
Fleece for stuffing.
Embroidery thread
Beads
Felt
Scissors
Wool needle for sewing up your tree and embroidery needle for sewing.
Pattern:
Cast on 25 stitches and join for knitting in the round.
Knit 5 rows
(Knit 5 stitches, knit 2 together) across the round, knit 4 stitches on the end (22 stitches)
Knit 9 rows
(Knit 5 stitches, knit 2 together) across the round, knit 1 stitch on the end (19 stitches)
Knit 9 rows
(Knit 5 stitches, knit 2 stitches together) across the round, knit 5 stitches on the end (17 stitches)
Knit 7 rows
(Knit 3 stitches, knit 2 stitches together) across the round, knit 2 on end. (14 stitches)
Knit 3 rows.
Knit 2 stitches together at the beginning and end of the remaining rounds until you have 2 stitches left.
Bind off.
Finishing off:
Sew up your tree on the wrong side leaving the base open.
Fill your tree with fleece and when it is nice and firm, sew on your felt base.
When finished your little Christmas tree will stand approx 5.5 inches tall. So sweet to adorn nature tables, mantlepieces, Christmas trees etc…

Thank you for this really sweet pattern! I am starting to think about holiday decorations and gifts now…..instead of 2 weeks before as I usually do. (Last year I started my girls’ Waldorf babies (3 of them) 3 weeks before the Winter Solstice. Even though it was a tight deadline for such gifts (and I was sewing clothes a few hours before they woke up) it was actually *good* for me, the chronic procrastinator.
I am going to be better this year, I promise myself!
Thanks again for a sweet pattern – I can see a little forest of these in different sizes, textures and colors adorning our mantle this year.

Such a cute tree! I can’t believe Christmas is only a few short months away…..I was hoping to get my presents into seamail for the UK but they will have to be finished by the beginning of October! Hope springs eternal don’t they say 😉

I have just done the exact same thing! Made a Christmas decoration mid-August ^_^ You can never think about Christmas too much in my book though. Such a happy, family orientated time of year.
