A young Black Collared Barbet enjoys fruit from the feeder…
Have you ever watched a Weaver build a nest? It is an amazing thing to see, I could have stood there for hours as he returned over and over again with a long thread of grass or palm leaf and meticulously wove it in and out of his half built nest.
A pair of Red Headed Finches popped in for a visit too today, they are the ones that have converted the old Weaver nest in the front garden…
A young Thick Billed Weaver and his family were scratching in the leaf pile…
At night when the temperature drops, we are so grateful for our warm fires, I have been using the orange peel firelighters to get our fires going. You can see them burning in the above photo on the bottom left and right. They work wonderfully…
Heart Swap:
I have been thinking about having another Heart Swap similar to the last one, where swap partners are paired up and swap a heart related craft item, I will be putting up the post sometime this week if you would like to join and this will explain the swap and items but most of all it is about ‘sharing the love’ across the world:)
Giveaway over at Ecomilf:
Dear Meagan over at Ecomilf is hosting a Mamma4earth knitted animal pattern giveaway for me. Thank you so much Meagan:) I will be hosting a wonderful giveaway here on my blog for Meagan on Tuesady.
Wishing you a peaceful weekend,
Warmly
Linda
Hi Linda! I made it over before bed and am so happy I did. I’ve been interested in swaps. I have read a little about them, but have never participated. I can’t wait to hear more and would possibly like to join in!
Thank you for sharing your garden stroll photos too. Aren’t birds fascinating? We have so many around our home too. I wish I could enjoy them all day. I am happy at least to enjoy them EVERY day!
I wondered – does Natural Suburbia or Mama4Earth have a facebook page for me to ‘like’? I’m so pleased that you took the time to find mine.
Aleta ♥
Hi Aleta,
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. I will post about the swap this week and it would be lovely if you decide to join. I enjoy the birds in our garden tremendously, we have bird feeders and fountains all over for them:)
There is a Mamma4earth Facebook Page link on the left sidebar of my blog. (Thank you:)
Take care
Linda
Aha! Spelling mistake on my part.
I have found you!
“LIKE”
I always enjoy when you share photos of the birds and flowers native to your part of the world. Thank you.
Definitely ditto to “WonderWhyGal” I love these photos!
I get such a kick seeing the flora and fauna from your part of the world… so VERY different than mine. I know I’ve said that before but it’s awesome!
The weaver’s nest is a wonderful curiosity, and you were able to be close enough to watch? Again I say, awesome!
Blessings, Debbie
I love your blog and would love to send some hearts from here in the uk 🙂
Wow! The birds that visit you are just amazing. I love every time you share them. What a lovely way to spend a few quiet hours with your feathered visitors.
The heart swap sounds like fun. Can’t wait to learn more.
Blessings, Elizabeth
what neat wildlife you have!!
Lovely shots of wing and petal. It is amazing when the children are suddenly people. But how can your spring be on the way? It seems you’d be in the middle of winter? I don’t see autumn calling for a very long, hot time. And so much to do till then. Watching the Tour de France tonight, and wondering who is in the yellow jersey – I’m so confused, but also fascinated. It’s soothing to watch them somehow. I won’t be home this week, but I think a heart exchange would be VERY fun –
Thank you so much Andrea and Maria:)
Hi Debbie,
Thanks:) It really is amaazing to watch Weavers work on a nest, such skill…
Hi, Emma, Jon, Nicola, Josie and Danica, thank you for the hearts from the UK:)
Thank you Elizabeth, I think the heart swap will be fun:)

You have a bird wonderland there. You’ve really created a healthy habitat that attracts a variety there. Enjoyed the nest building. Beautiful. Such a talented little weaver!

Wow, those are incredible shots of the weaver birds! Do they allow you to get close or are you using a pretty big lens? Thank you for sharing!
it is amazing to see how the birds are different there from here. Lovely indeed. and that fire looks so inviting, even though we are in the middle of a heat wave here.
