We have also discovered that the old Weaver nests hanging in the front garden have been recycled by Red Headed Finches. They have moved in, lined the nest with all sorts of softness that they could find and we can hear their babies chirping away…. terribly cute…
With all the gloom of winter surrounding us at the moment, what a delight to have this beautiful bloom growing on our front veranda, I love it, it looks so perfect and bright compared to all the frost bitten plants that now inhabit our garden. This one colourful flower is like a ray of hope that spring and summer will soon be here. I can already feel the lengthening of the days and the sun is rising earlier and setting later.
Remember these???
Wow, we used to make so many of these when I was at school,(I’m calling them these because I can’t remember what they are called) they are tremendous fun! If you would like a tutorial just let me know and we will put one together soon:) Oh and if you know what they are called, please do let us know so that the tutorial can have a name and also we would really just like to know the name because this mama has long forgotten it…
I leave you with this photo of our Charlie enjoying a piece of sweet melon, he loves it.
I am off to find a really sunny spot to rest in for a few minutes, drink some honey tea and hopefully be on the mend soon:)
See you tomorrow for Creative Friday…

My friends and I always called them fortune tellers. Not sure if that’s what they are actually called or not. I recently came across a handful of teeny tiny ones I folded with a pin in a box of all kinds of stuff from my childhood.
Love the picture of your sweet dog. I keep catching our two doing all kinds of naughty things… I want to get mad and then they give THAT face. 🙂
Beautiful dog, lovely pics, hope you feel better soon. I make a tea with garlic, chilli and honey – actually tastes great and kicks the flu out the door xx
Dear Kiwi Circus,
Thanks so much for letting me know what they are:) Animals are so special aren’t they?
Warmly
Linda

Hope you’re feeling better before you read this!

Thank you Carrie:)
The Rooibos tea is Red Bush tea, it is grown locally here in South Africa, but I think you can buy it worldwide. It is really good for you.
Hi Fehnna,
Your dog sounds so sweet. Thanks for letting me know the name and for your well wishes.

It’s lousy to feel lousy! From the looks of things you are in good hands, although I don’t know what comfort his sleeping on your clothes will bring you, but that’s the thing about OUR pets. Only WE understand.
When I was in school we made these all the time too. We called them cootie catchers!
Blessings, Debbie

Hello dear friend
Oh, I hope you feel better soon. My boys are all sniffly today too. And would you believe it, we have been playing and making those dials too this week. We had circu themed ones from the library and then we designed our own with all sorts of challenges. Cootie catchers or dials. Mark says they were known as picky noses when he was a boy in Zim!! Love to you and be better soon.
Thank you so much dear Kelly, how amazing we were both making the same crafts this week:) Thank you for the well wishes too.
Love
Linda
sending you chicken soup and healing thoughts x
Our cats used to jump into the sink and at lettuce. How funny cats are. And Sandy – what eyes!! I couldn’t be angry with her either.
We called them cootie catchers when I was a kid. No idea why.
