Pin Oak Leaf Knitting Pattern

Thanks for the lovely comments you left here on my blog, emails you sent and messages on Ravlery about yesterdays little knitted leaves, you are all so kind, I hope you enjoy knitting them:) Well as you can see I am slightly obsessed with knitting leaves at the moment, today’s one is an oak leaf, a Pin Oak Leaf to be exact. We have a Pin Oak in our backyard and I love its slender leaves, they are so delicate and pretty to look at. In autumn it is the first tree in our garden to show its brown and amber leaves with tiny flecks of green here and there… I must knit some leaves in orange and brown in this pattern, seeing as it is winter here, after all, in the southern hemisphere…and all the leaves have fallen and the trees are bare…

Oh I just love your new leaf Linda and thank you so much for sharing it along with so many of your other patterns. You are so generous 🙂 I’ve bookmarked it so that I can knit it this fall. I’ve got a basket of felt and knit leaves for our nature table and will definitely be adding this one 🙂 Happy Sunday.

I love the leaf! It is really so pretty. I knit some leaves for the Seasons Round Exchange a couple of years ago and had so much fun with them. Thanks for the pattern–they would be great for a garland!

Cynthia, have you done this pattern yet? if so, how many stitches did you have on needle when you reached row 15? when I get there I don’t have enough stitches to do what it says.

i’m having trouble when i get to the 15th row, if i’m doing it right when i get to the 13th row i have 7 stitches and on the 14th row, but the 15th row, the way i read it; it would be impossible to do all them stitches into such few stitches, am i missing something? other than that it’s a beautiful pattern, very nice

Lillian, I had the same issue. This is what I did for Row 15:

Increase 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches (not 4), purl 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches, knit into the front and back of the last stitch.

      Hope that helps!

Did you also have a problem with row 35? I’ve just been omitting the k2 on either side of the purl. Or should there be another row of increase 1 on both sides of the row?
