How do you keep your yarn wrangling organised? It seems like an easy to answer question at first, but in fact organisation exists on many levels. Maybe you are truly not organised at all, in which case I am personally daring you to try and photograph your stash in whatever locations you can find the individual skeins. However, if you are organised, blog about an aspect of that organisation process, whether that be a particularly neat and tidy knitting bag, a decorative display of your crochet hooks, your organised stash or your project and stash pages on Ravelry. 2KCBWDAY3
Today for Knitting & Crochet week we are blogging about our yarn stash, a while back I packed everything yarn related into my cupboards in my yarn room. I was so tired of going to look for a particular skein and not being able to find it. So the first two photos show my wool room that I have blogged before but the photos underneath show the fibre. Now, fibre is not easy to pack NEATLY away… no not at all! So there it stands on the other side of my yarn room in large plastic packets.
I have seen these wonderful containers on quite a few blogs that I could just pop this fibre into and this would neaten up things quite a bit I would say? Yes?
So without firther ado, page down and just see the bags of fibre all over the place… I know… I know I need to spin it up and get some order going in this room:)
Yarn, Merino / Silk blend, Angora ….. live in this pile…
More Merino, Alpaca and Angora fibre live over here…
This is cotton fibre, Nef sock yarn (BLISS!! Yes!! so incredibly soft) and sock yarn …
Now there is also cupboard space in this here room of mine, lots of Alpaca and Cashmere down there with just a little Organic South African Handspun Merino too… Thank goondess this space has doors that close!
Now if you walk over to the other side of the room with me, there is rainbow cotton dk, felting fibre and plenty of luxury rovings to spin up here… (see closing doors too, phew…)
Lastly, this is what is behind the door, superwash, merino and cashmere:)
Thanks so much for walking through my yarn room with me:)

oh my goodness! i want to come shopping in your yarn room. a whole room! and it is beautiful even with the piles (which look so squishy I want to just dive into them!)
I’m going to show this to my husband, as he thinks I have a lot of yarn!!
i have so much yarn envy when i see this. i need to start a knitting business so that i can have cupboards full of yarn. p.s. thanks for getting back to me about the knitting machine – maybe if i get that first (one day) i’ll be able to start up that knitting business! : ) wink!
I guess you feel like a child in a candystore 😉 I think I will, when i would have such a room.
Enchanting, just looking at all those beautiful warm colours en feel the softness. Hmm, dream on Yvonne….
Love, Yvonne
Wow! That’s some fiber collection you have. I want to live in that room. =)
LOL it’s everywhere !
Oh my goodness, your yarn room is so dreamy! As regina said, I even want to dive into the piles of fluff!
Thank you for sharing your room with us! It’s was wonderful to come across this through KCBW!
Holy Moley is that a lot of yarn and fiber!! There might be a whole sheep hiding in there 🙂 I like to spread mine around the house in little stashes, rather than expose the entire stash to my husband at once (he’d faint).
I love your orderlyness! I wish I could have a room just like that. You are to be envied, at least by me!
I want to move into your yarn room. All the pretties make me swoon. And not only the pretties, but you have a YARN ROOM!!! How cool is that. I want one.
That is very cool! I like your storage in those cabinets. You can feature the things you have organized and ready behind the glass and hide other things in the cupboards below.
OMGosh! The fact you have a room devoted to yarn…outstanding! Those cupboards are perfect for storing yarn, like little treasures.
Holy cabinet-fulls of yarn! You need to open up your own LYS soon, you’re just about ready.
Oh I would love to go shopping in there!
Your yarn room is lovely my friend – it’s soo nice to have a tour 🙂
Holy sheep! Now that is an incredible stash. I love your cabinets – they’re perfect for organizing yarn.
I adore the glass-door cabinets that you have the majority of your pretties in! They have to be a constant source of inspiration for you. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous stash with us!
You’re so inspiring! I’ve got such a mess going on in with my stash and I just may have to catch a little spring cleaning bug;)
Besides the yarn, I really like your floor!
Is that a kind of parquet?
I’ve never seen something like that…looks super warm and cosy. 🙂
And yeah, the yarn is pretty impressive too! – Katalysis
Hi Kat!
It’s great to hear from you:)
Thanks about the floor, it is tiled. Our home was built in 1928 and had oregon flooring, somewhere along the line someone pulled up the flooring in some of the rooms and tiled them. When the next owners moved in they wanted to tile the floor with tiles that looked like wood so they used these.
Have an awesome day.
Linda
My goodness, what a stash to behold! I must admit I am drooling a bit.
I was green with envy the first time I saw your storage. My wall of plastic bins just isn’t getting it for me. I do the plastic bag thing though.
Oh my, you have SO MUCH yarn, total envy! And your organised cupboard looks like a yarn store!
lol… I’ve had a serious laugh… you are an addict! We are addicts together 🙂 You’d feel right at home in my home.
Blessings and magic,
Donni
Gotta admit, if that aphorism about tidy minds holds true, then my knitting has NO HOPE AT ALL. I should organize my yarn, too, as it is getting out of hand. But I hate to encase it all in plastic. I LOVE the organic, soft, chaotic mess it makes. I don’t even know what kind of yarns i have after I pull the labels off and start working – that’s stupid, too. Blends, wools, at least I can tell cotton. The only bad thing about the chaos (ONLY bad thing?) is the dust. I think, if I were true to pattern, if I got it all organized and cleaned up, I’d probably just grind to a halt and move on to something else. Can it be that I thrive on chaos?
