Todays post on Black and White Wednesday is about a road trip we took not so long ago. We were travelling just outside of Clarens in South Africa, on our way to the Cherry orchards and we came across these amazing sights while on the road. I love rock formations, they are so beautiful and have existed for thousands of years, continually changing by weathering, truly beautiful…
This Sandstone cave was so massive, it reminded me of an amphitheatre, imagine the sound echoing off those cave walls…
This old house was at the Historical Society in Ficksburg, isn’t she amazing, we did go inside to have a look, she was very run down, but I could see her former glory shining through…
So many new friends have been visiting our blog and I would just like to say Welcome, thank you for your wonderful comments! It has been lovely to meet you:)

I love these! I am a big fan of black and white-especially when the subject, whatever it is, is of any age at all. Xx

Oh my, what beautiful photos! Thank you for sharing these. My best friend just moved back to Cape Town (her hometown) and while I know these photos aren’t of Cape Town, they still remind me of her and her descriptions of South Africa. 🙂
Warmly,
Mari-Ann
Those are awe-inspiring! There is something so humbling standing before such rock formations, isn’t there?
I am pleased to be able to play along again this week…

Do my black and whites count, if I put them up – when did I put them up? Sunday? Maybe they could. I’m even in one of them. My grandmother had a house like this one, though not stone – an old and decrepit lady with a lovely front porch, just reclaimed from the run-down once proud center of Kansas City. We have rocks like that between us and almost everything in the states = we are an oasis in the midst of the wide, wild desert and its rugged cliffs.
Oh my goodness, those rock formations are gorgeous. I got in just under the wire for black and white Wednesday!
My husband and I just love these photos you have posted. I am off to look up where Clarens is now.
My family has connection to South Africa and Zimbabwe so it is lovely to see some photos of your area. That old house is a beauty isn’t it! 🙂
Oh wow! They are all beautiful but I most especially love that house! My imagination is running with it’s past.
It is simply magnificent phrase
